We just went through this on Saturday. There was vomiting no diarrhea. Guinness got cerenia by injection and fluids by IV. The following are his dietry instruction from the vet after fasting for 36 hours. Please keep in mind that Guinness is 12.5 pounds and may be getting a bigger portion of food.
First day- 1/2 cup, equal parts of finely mince chicken and cooked rice. Twice a day.
Second day- up to 3/4 cup (same bland mixture). Twice a day.
Third day- 1 cup, 1/2 regular food and 1/2 bland. Twice daily.
Fourth day- 1 cup, 3/4 regular and 1/4 bland. Twice daily.
Fifth day- back to regular diet.
