| Help!?!?!?!? New puppy, was told I had a teacup yorkie. Very inexperienced, my first puppy. He was great the first night. But has gone down hill since. Picked him up sunday. Hasn't really been eating. Breeder sent me home with bag a of Eukunaba (Sp) didn't mention to me that he was orginally on puppy chow. Didn't eat, Tuesday, barely ate Wed, took him to vet Yesterday. They checked him and told me that he is only 4 weeks old, seperated from mom too early and that is why I am having problems. He is only 1 pound 2 ozs. I don't know what to do with him. He wont eat the puppy chow. I added water to soften it up since he has no teeth. He just wants to lay around not active at all. Please help. |

I would get some puppy replacement milk or goats milk and mix it with ground up (in the blender) puppy chow. Make it pretty soupy and see if he will eat it. Is there any way the breeder will take him back until he gets older and then you get him? They learn lots of things from their mom and siblings in the next 8 weeks. Hugs, Nancy

| Thanks for the reply. I thought about taking him back to her so he could be with mom but I don't know. I don't know why she would let him go early. I will try the food in the blender. i am just worried, he doesn't do anything but sleep. He drinks water, but very little. |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | go to the store and get some cans of condense goat milk I am told that goats milk is the closest to moms milk for a puppy, don't use the puppy formula can give him diarreah, also get a bottle, that pup needs to eat.. mix the can of milk with a can of water, add some karo syrop, grind some of the puppy food and mixed it, let him lick it from a saucer if not put the milk mixture in a bottle run it under a warm water until is baby feed warm and feed him that. Best of luck.. |

| Are you in Florida? It's against the law to sell a puppy that young! Puppies must be eight weeks old under Florida law. Florida also has some of the toughest puppy lemon laws in the country. Florida Pet Lemon Law I know it sounds hard hearted, but the smartest thing you can do is return this puppy, report the breeder and get the purchase price plus vet bills back. You could spend a fortune on him and he still could die. Even if he lives, he most likely will have socialization problems from being taken from his mother so young plus very likely genetic health issues. |

I agree with ladymom and go the lemon law route. This pup can give you a lot of problems, cost a lot of money, and you may even lose him.

| this is crazy.....I didn't know. I don't know much about puppies..and you would think somebody who claims to breed for 17 years wouldn't do this. Vet also said he recieved vaccs to early would that mess with his stomach causing vomiting? |

| I agree, he should be taken back, but there is not guarantee that she will not resell him. If you do decide to keep him you can feed him baby rice cereal with the goats milk and karo syrup and mix in a jar of Gerber baby chicken stage 2. You can mix it really runny so you can syringe feed him. You'll need to feed him every 2 hours and you will need somethjing to help keep him warm when he sleeps. if he was vaccinated this young it could mess up his immune system. I would also buy lots of books on how to socialize a puppy because you will need to teach him how to be a dog. Did he come with registration papers? if he did I would also report her to the AKC fopr falsifying records. Good luck and keep us posted on what you decide to do. |

| you've received good advice on ways to feed this dog, I also think at such a young age it's a 24/7 thing your going to have to do, otherwise chances may be slim on making it. I'd report the person too, greed and lies are no way to run a business. I doubt I'd take it back there for any reason.

| There is a great recipe for something called Whelping Pudding...might try it with your puppy. I will go look through my breeding info and get it or if someone can post it before I find it, that would work too. It is Mary's recipe (her screenname is Mardelin). Tammy |

| OMG this is horrible!! He NEVER should've been sold to you at such a young age!!! 4 weeks is WAY WAY WAY too early. Everyone has given great advise on what to feed him. You must get him eating even if goes into force feeding...his sugars can not go down or you may loose him. The kyro syrup will help! Good luck and keep us updated!!

| I agree with JeanieK. This poor puppy is probably one of many that were sold too early. The so called breeders are just looking for the money and that pup will be in a revolving door if you take it back. My opinion is for you to report the 'breeder', and then try to give that pup a home. Consider it a rescue. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | oh wow. A tiny puppy can't go without food - there may be more going on then just the no teeth issue and you really need to go back to the vet and have him tested for parasites - If he is acting lethargic etc it could be coccidia or something worse - so as soon as you can - get him in..... For now you may want to try a syringe for water & try what others posted but at that size and age you could lose him If the breeder won't take him back for a bit then it's up to you to save him or give him to someone who will. I really don't understand why someone would want such a tiny tiny yorkie but that's a different topic and I don't want you to feel bad. That breeder should be reported - some states have laws against selling puppies so young. What is wrong with people that they'd do this just to make a fast buck Also - I would post where you got this tiny YOUNG puppy in the Breeder Review section so others know to stay clear. That is one bad bad breeder. |
