| Sophie will start her HW treatment the week after Thanksgiving. Her bile test is back before eating it was normal after it was 74.4 which is below 100 but still it indicates something...so we'll be changing her diet. Then in 3 months another bile test. Any recommendations for a good food that is liver friendly. Right now the are on Natural Balance LTD. |

Stay away from meats if at all possible (definitely no red meat). They are harder for the liver to metabolize. Join this group Liver_Shunt_And_MVD_Support : Liver Shunt & MVD/HMD Support there is TONS of info here and a lot of other people who will be able to give you LOTS of advice. I am a member (along with several other people from YT). They have archives that are FILLED with info... you could be reading for days! Hope that helps!

| I joined the group but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to naviagate it. My vet doesn't carry Royal Canin BUT the LS & MVD group said that the Science Diet LD is a good food also. They removed an ingredient that was not good (can't remember the name) clinching their endorsement. I read somewhere...again, I should have tagged it...that said to juice celery & zucchini & give it as a liver cleansing. |

| I have to drop Sophie off at the vet early Thursday for the start of her heartworm treatment. She'll get one shot & stays over night because they will do a pain treatment the next day. My question is...what can I expect when I get her home? How is she going to feel & act? The Doc says the first week is most critical....I am scared! If I do something wrong, she could die. How could I live with myself?

Just wanted to let you know I will be praying for your sweet Sophie to come threw this treatment with flying colors. I have no experience with heartworms but do know dog's do get healed with treatment. Sophie's young and otherwise healthy, I see no reason for her treatment not to be successful fine. | |

| Thanks! Sophie is doing so well. She had her second round of treatment on the 7th & 8th but still needs to be 'quiet' for the whole month. Thanks for your well wishes! Her energy level is through the roof so she is not staying as quiet as she should. Once the month is over I'll be walking walking walking her to burn off some of this energy. Her personality has become so much more loving...she now gives kisses, we can pick her up, she'll jump into our lap. And commands...she can now sit, shake, stay, come. Doesn't sound like much but before it was like she couldn't concentrate. We're so proud of her. Her favorite treat is a rub! Before we could barely touch her...she'd back away.

| Good to hear that Sophie is responding well to the H/W treatment. Bet she can not wait to get back to being her active self after the last treatment.
