| My baby sassy is sick and can't figure out what wrong Ok, first off,I'm a newbie to this site. Second I have a 9yr old named sassy that is vomiting and has pus and blood diaherrea as her stools. We have been through this now for a week. She has been to the vet and stayed over night. They seem to think it is an infection in her bowels I on the other hand know her and that is not what is wrong. She won't eat, sleeps most of the day, wants to be held( which is the only thing normal she's doing), her eyes are dull looking,we did find out she is anemic, she hides under anything she can fit, and she's lost weight(she was7.4lbs on thursday and is now almost 6lbs).I can't take seeing her like this,( I'm crying just wring this message), I am at my wits end and need help, advice, something.I also have a 4yr old boxer that is soooo sad when he watches her( he is very protective of her) he actually crys when she not around ( a 95lb crybaby). I rescued a 11yr old yorkie9 yrs ago, but had to put him to sleep 3yrs ago cause he was blind and deaf(couldnt find anymore vets willing to help him),that was hard for me to do but he is in a better place and is well again.Sassy is on clavamox, it is not helping and our vet wants us to finish the medicine before testing or doing anything else. My concern is that the med isn't working after 4 days what is gonna make it work in 2 more days? Anyway I hope someone here can point me in the right direction. Thank you |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | welcome to YT. i'm sorry your sassy isn't doing well. I would try to find another vet for a second opinion. i agree that it looks like something else is wrong and the meds aren't helping. did the vet you took her too do any bloodwork? if not that's the first thing i would have done.

| I would see a different vet also. IT is too serious to wait. Was bloodwork done?

Donating YT 30K Club Member | After 4 days and no better I would get a second opinion. Maybe the antibiotic isn't the best one for treating her infection. I hope Sassy feels better soon.

| yes they did bloodwork and said everything was ok except she was anemic.I got her when she was 10weeks old and have her knees replaced and she has seizures so she 's on valium for that. The vet told me that if the antibiotics didn't work then he was assumming colon cancer. Is that found alot with yorkies?I have researched everything and that is omething i can't find. Thank you for all of your concerns and i am going for a second, third, and fourth oppinion, cause she deserves that from me. |

| I would try Flagyl (metronidazole) and maybe Albon I'd also give benebac (a probiotic) which you can get at the pet supply places if she's bee on an antibiotic for very long. If after a week on these she isn't better I'd have an ultrasound. I just lost my 13 yr old in August from an intestional cancer but he had trouble with the same symptoms you describe all his life and Flagyl was a magic bullet whenever he got this. Good luck and keep us updated |

| we changed her to science diet in the can a year ago.She does get chicken alot now that she's not eatting very good. She finished her biotic today, but the vet wants me to give her another day before making anymore desisions about where to go from here. I don't like that idea.I can't get her into another vet for a second opinion til next week due to no appointments available and i feel so bad that she isn't getting any better. They did a barrium swallow and found no blockage, which is good. she has lost more weight, she is running a fever, her little belly is red it's so hot and the vet says keep her comfortable for a few more days, ( I'd like to make him feel what she is feeling), anyway, thanks again and i will keep writing updates on her. |

| no i used to be a pharm tech but my dog has gastritis and ibd; and i have been suffering for almost 2 years with her now; until recently i changed her diet to the honest kitchen and started adding digestive enzymes, and probiotic; and now she's great. they have very sensitive stomach and they are very picky eaters; so it's hard to get around that; but thank god she loves that food. i feed her 4 small meals ; that way her stomach never empties and she doesnt vomit anymore; good luck
