| Ok everyone...went to see the ophthalmologist this morning...she had an eye exam and he said there was some swelling of the Optic Nerve in her right eye(Optic Neuritis). The optic nerve leads from the retina of the eye to the brain. Not sure what has caused this, he didn't think it was a tumour or anything and its unlikely it was caused by a trauma of some sort...he gave her a shot of antibiotics, a steroid shot, steroid eye drops and a course of antibiotics to give her at home over the next week..giving her the eye drops every 2 hours today and then 4 times a day as from tomorrow. We go back again next week. He couldn't say if her sight would get better or worse or that if it could happen to her left eye...so fingers crossed...i'm more optimistic than i was and i'm just glad to be actually doing something...lets hope it works and there will be some improvement when we go back next week, so i'll give her her meds as instructed and hope its good news next week. Thanks for all your kind messages of support and i'll keep you all posted on her progress...hugs to everyone! Kerry & Pixie Pooh xxx

| I have just seen this post about Pixie, I hope she is improving and it can be sorted out. My first little yorkie lost his sight but he was 13 when it happend it could still manage as long as we did not move things around in the house. But hopefully they have caught things in time and she will get better.

| GOOD news!!! Went back to see the Ophthamologist this morning and he says the sight in her right eye is functioning pretty much as normal again! I'm so relieved! I had seen alot of improvement in the last week...no more bumping into things or getting disorientated in the garden at night and she seemed to have regained her confidence and become more like her usual naughty, boisterous self! I'm to keep going with the eye drops and gradually reduce them over the next few weeks and go back for another check up in about 6 weeks...in the meantime i'm to watch out for her rubbing/pawing at her eye in case she develops an ulcer in which case i'm to stop the drops immediatley and go and see him. Hopefully this (Optic Neuritis) won't reoccur....but for now she is happy and healthy and for that i'm very very grateful! Noticed last saturday...a small lump on her tummy...got him to have a look today and he said it is a hernia...which i suspected...so will get our regular vet to sort this out...phew!...what a couple of weeks we have had! Thanks again all for your kind messages of support. Much Love, Kerry & Pixie Pooh. xxxx
