My heart and my prayers are with you. This is a terrible situation but you need to know that you did nothing wrong. I know how much you are hurting. About a month ago I almost had to put my baby to sleep. He was so sick and not eating that the vet said his blood work looked like he was starving to death. I was trying to get him to eat anything I could. I felt like I was letting him down and it was all my fault. Well the vet sort of figured out what was going on and he is doing 100% better. He's eating like a champ and gained weight. I know it's not the same, but it's just a little story to show you that you are not alone. You are doing the right thing by getting your baby the help she needs. Stay positive. I'm sure everything will work out in the end. Keep us updated.

Cry

It is only 6:22am , I did get some sleep last night, took meds to calm me down, and went to sleep early. It is a horrible feeling not to have Miely boo bear at home . I know she is probably sleeping right night in the cage at the vets office. I know they gave her something for the pain.
So now I wait, wait for the vet to call , letting me know she is ok , and doing well.
The guilt I feel is unsurmaountable. i know she is in good hands and be well cared for.
I stopped crying, and now just feel exhausted . i am praying miely makes it through the surgery and is going to feel a lot better, pain meds and antibiotics is what she will come home with. no amount of expenses is too little to pay for her to not be suffering and in pain.
Such a little pup , and so much she has to go through because of an accident on my part.
NEVER will I ever use grooming scissors to get a matt out .I have clippers, I will use them , I just am not good as a groomer, and only was trying to take the pain away from a uncomfortable matt, causing her to hurt and be injured on something so little as taking a matt out has destroyed my heart, and hurt me badly emotionally.
I am on full disability, and it is difficult to handle things , if I were in a better place in my mind.
I know the Dr's will do their best for Miely. i pray she will recover, and i'l be bringing her home sometime today.
God forgive me , and give me the strengh to cope. going back to bed now, and trying to get some sleep , I have to be more awake to drive the hr to the vet , and pck her up . Prays for Miely please.

i nicked my baby's foot with scissors when trimming her feet. i swore i'd never tough scissors to her body again. and i haven't so far, but i'm trying to toughen up and learn to groom her myself someday. don't worry all new mommies and even experienced ones sometimes nick a little. you did a great thing with neosporin and she'll be fine. don't get too down on yourself okay?

just read the rest of your story. still, don't worry and don't beat yourself to a pulp over this. you didn't mean to hurt her and she'll heal up before too long! get some rest and let us know when she's home and how she's healing okay?

I just talked to the vet hospital. Miely boo is out of surgery, and is awake . Thank god everything went smoothly for my precious girl. I have a great vet Hospital that we go to, and they are accredited . I am so relieved Miley is ok.
She is only 5 months old . She probably will need to wear an e collar to protect her from not removing the stitches.
My goodness my girl is already at 7 LBS , LOL . She has shorter and stalkier than Suzi, and looks smaller , yet she's about the same weight as Suzi. Shih tzu 's average weight is 10-16 LBS , yet Miely is just one little furball.
NEVER ever will I use scissors , on my girls, clippers would have worked , and are safer too. I learned , and KNOW better now. I strongly reccomend never using scissors on our babies to anybody. TOO dangerous.
I will also say that the fee for all of her care , and overnight stay, plus the meds she will be coming home with, surgery too, the grand total is $308.47 OMG , the estimate was higher too, and I am very relieved that it was not as high as expected.
SO if anyone lives is the FResno, San Joquain Valley, this is the vet hospital to take your babies to. Because they are the best , which I am reccomending for our babies !

Awww, so sorry that your baby had to have surgery. But she's as good as new and feeling all better. You were trying to be a good mommy and take care of her mats, don't be upset. She'll be in your arms in no time. Hugs. B

Please forgive yourself! That is important, for you both!

Also be careful with clippers, if they catch, they can burn (also painful)

Keep us posted, you are in our thoughts!

Miely Boo is home My poor little one, she has to wear a plastic collar around her neck , so she leave the stitches alone. She cried as she bumped into the walls .
I now have to spoon feed her, and spoon feed her water for 14 days. She is on antibiotics , and pain meds too. THey shaved her little leg too, and had to use what looks like several stitches, main reason for this was because their was a small flap of skin loose, and they removed it. Now the stitches are real straight and clean.
Miely seems to be ok, just hates wearing the E collar. I have to really watch her around Suzi, Suzi is a curoius little yorkie/monkey . Every toy I offer Miely she grabs it away from her. Suzi can't figure out why miely is not up for playing right now.

I learned after that what to do about mats. Always slide a comb underneath the mat if you decide to cut. That way there is something in between the scissors and skin!
I am so glad to see this tip as I have nicked my Morkie Belle twice now. I was a wreck and picked her up and snuggled and told her how sorry mommy was and I would never hurt her on purpose and on and on...then treats and her special toy......then my husband said 'Okay okay, you nicked her and it's the end of the world, you cut my hair and nick my ear and I'm told don't be a baby, you'll live." Guess we know where our furbabies stand!

Default Miely' surgery

It is a helpless , awful, feeling. To know I caused this, and Yes I know this was purely an accident.
However, I am not coping well. Not coping well at all. The vert is great though, they gave her pain meds this evening to help her feel better, and he said I could leave her pink blanket with her.
The reason why they can;t stich it up normally because their was a loose flap of skin that the vet said would not work to close her injury. Now she has to be placed under , and stitched up, then be given antibiotics and pain meds.
AND anther worse case, is that she has not been vaccineated for her rabies, the vet saw how she had bit me in a few places, so now says he has to call the health departmetn, and possibly have her quaritnined!!! 10 days, but that is usually done inside the home. She is not rabid!!! never been outside ever, so the vet said she may be young enough not for it to be a problem, yet he has to report it.
My head hurts, my heart hurts, and I can't stop bawling . What a horrid experience for any pet owner to go through, because i have a deep love for my 2 girls, I can;t seem to be bouncing back , just keep crying off and on since she has to stay and have surgery.
I don't feel well, and this sinking feeling is not going away until I know Miely boo bear is ok. I wait until tommorow , then I can go pick up my baby.
i am borrowing money against myself for next month to cover the expensses, since I am on full disablity, this is not my concern at the moment , it is of my precious little puppy.
PLease say prayers for Miely, I am distraught , can't stop crying , just knowingthat i hurt her, even though I know in my head it was a terrible accident .
I know how you feel as I have knicked my little Belle a couple of times. As an EMT I understand the need to have her sewed up surgically due to the injury being a flap. They are called avulserations and they heal with more scarring and bumpy if sewed regularly but Miely will be fine and will need you to be the strong one. Miely has forgotten and forgiven already and all she will know is that you are upset and they really pick up on our emotions. Belle just gets frantic if mommy cries and acts like she did something wrong. You need to tell Miely that it's all better and mommy will be okay too. Dogs love unconditionally no matter what so all she wants to do is cuddle and love mommy. Be strong, everything will go okay but keep us informed and we will think about both of you!

Thank u so much . I got over the crying , and now she is like a baby to be taken care of. She needs to be hand fed and given water by the spoonful. Because of the e collar. SOOOO I am up all night long, making sure she is ok, she whines because she hates the e collar , but I have watched her try and get to the stitches even with the collar on. SO she has to wear it.
Miely is doing good , and I have to really supervise Suzi around her. Suzi was so mad , when Miely got to be hand fed!
i'll be taking Miely with me to places , cause I just can't bear the though of leaving her alone . She stays close to me, and is depending on me for so much more right now .I feel obgligated to ensure she recovers fully.

SOOO glad to hear she is doing good. The e collars are something. It takes them a while to get used to them but she will eventually and she'll be able to navigate all around with it. Give her lots of extra hugs and kisses and snuggle time. So happy she's home and on the mend.
