| Ive been vacuuming everyday so far and i started dollar on the predisolone. It seems the itching has gone down alot on dollar but then i felt an itch on my neck and i found a flea on my shirt!. i grabbed it but it jumped out of my hand. i feel gross right now and feel like all my efforts have done nothing so far. Can someone recommend a good bombing/fogger product thats worked for them? and also if anyone knows a an exterminator thats reputable in the NJ/tri state area, please let me know. |

| I got my daughters foggers from the vet. They used several others also but felt that the vet's had the strongest. (Don't know if that's true but hey, we were desperate) I asked her yesterday how the flea's were and she said they were gone but it did take almost 6 wks to get them all gone. Vacuuming & the bombing was crucial in getting rid of them. Good Luck

| wow i got an itch by my neck and it felt like something was crawling so i grabbed my collar and sure enough i had a flea in my hand only to jump off and disappear. The vet gave me Knockout spray and i sprayed the rooms but lately my moms been getting bit. I'm really hesitant to call an exterminator because i do not know of a reputable one. What are some key questions i should ask an exterminator before hiring? |

YT 3000 Club Member | ypu can mix apple cider vineagr and water and spray it on him, they dont like the acidic taste. TRy dawn dish washing soap it would be safer the the flea shampoo for these little guys. THey also say fleas dont like dogs that get extra fatty acids like salmon oil etc, I rarely find a flea on chester and I fleas comb him every nite and put some vaseline on the flea comb and they cant jump off. |

Donating YT Addict | ok this is what we did in April of this year because it was bad around here. First of all did the vet tell you that if you use frontline you are supposed to apply it at least 48 hours after a bath or it doesn't work. they didn't tell me this the first time i used it so of course it was wasted. then I sprayed my house with Adams flea & tick home and carpet spray. I bought this at walmart for 9.99 a can. This stuff is awesome. It doesn't have a strong odor smell and you spray everthing with a light mist and don't let anything get on it until it drys. Kills and keeps fleas from hatching for 180 days. I vacummed every 3 days for 2 weeks and got total control over my house. We also put out in the yard some specicide granules from Home Depot. Those worked good to. Now each month I put Frontline on Tyke I also go around my baseboards and rugs by the door with the flea spray. Haven't had any problems all summer til Sept. But this was my fault because i run out of frontline and Tyke didn't have any for a week. so he got a couple of fleas. I tried the Comfortis and it seems to work good too. I had to give Tyke Benedryl for 2 weeks every night because even after I got rid of the fleas, I think he's allergic to the bites too. hope this helps. pm me if you have any questions all the home rememdies didn't work which i live in south mississippi where fleas will tote you off . oh i forgot to tell you i got some spray from the vet too for my house and it's not as good as the Adams flea spray.

| To get rid an kill fleas and ticks i just sprinkle diatomaceous earth on my dogs and around their bedding. it works really well. you can feed it to them to. my backyard has tons of fleas an ticks and i sprinkle my pups with diatomaceous earth before they go outside. they have yet to bring anything in the house :-D O yea and its not poisonous to our animals in anyway unlike the frontline and all the flea an tick preventative we get from the vet or buy from the store Last edited by vtran08; 10-10-2009 at 12:18 PM. |

| I just ordered the diatomaceous earth after we had a flea scare (we think it was a false alarm, but still, better to be over prepared) I hope it works! I've heard from a lot of people it did. My fingers are crossed that it will work. |

| I hate fleas Like you we have had a horrible time this fall no fleas all summer and now we have them a friend told me to sprinkle salt on my couch around the dog beds even out side on the concrete where my dogs go. I guess the fleas eat it and the explode. Poor flea lol!!!!! I tried it on the couch and i check today and did not see anything. I swept it with the sweeper and still no fleas we have hard wood floors our yorkies are nice enough to let us live in their house. I sweep everyday but the salt seems to have done the trick you might try it. It is cheap and easy to sweep up. I have decided they like the frontline now for dessert |

| Jeez. so the vet prescribed dollar a steroid for the allergies and he told me to start him on it if his itching started to get bad and surely enough if it did. so i started him on the steroids and a couple days later the itching stopped and i didnt see any more flea bites. i took the vacuumming down a notch to every other day and i thought i was finnaly getting rid of the fleas. (getting all the baseboards and moving beds started to get real annoying) Two days ago dollar started to itch real bad and i figured it was because i lowered his medication to every other day like the vet told me. I woke up today to an itch on my stomach and it looked like a flea bite so i checked to see if dollar was getting bit and he had a few bite marks by his tail. Im starting to notice a pattern, i dont know if theyre get hunry of theyre hatching, but about every two weeks, the flea problem seems to reappear. has anyone else noticed this? I forgot to reapply frontline on the 14th so i put it on today but now hes scratching himself all over again. Ive heard mixed results with the Diac. earth so i havent tried it. i spread borax around the house and apparently that doesnt work either. I was hesitant to use salt because people have said that if the alt comes in contact with water, it will get sticky and probably ruin the hardwood floors. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!! It cost me over $1000 in vet visits and supplies so far and i refuse to spend another penny until i can get a guarantee. There are so many pest control services with prices ranging from $150-$350 and i dont know which name i can rely on to get rid of this problem. Anyone in the tri state area that knows of a trustworthy Pest control service that services the northern New Jersey area, please PM me with the information. |
