hmm cannot imagine those two drugs causing intestinal ulcer but have never given mine those so will research it - did you give the drugs on empty stomach or with food?

Did they do a complete cbc panel on her to see if rbc were off since blood in stool as my real concern is kidneys here as well

I have been feeding her Innova can and kibble. No treats because she really can't eat them yet.

I don't think they did a complete blood panel on her. I give the meds after she eats. Her poop is brown again. Is that a good thing??? Right now she is walking around and pottying. I really appreciate all the help.

Ask the Veterinarian: Cimetidine for Dog, rat poison, residual problems

they are treating her as if this is rat poison

it concerns me as you say no way this could have happened and sounds to be true so why are they treating for poison still with vitamin k - if they did not do a full cbc panel that would be the first thing i had done as they may tell you what is going on as sounds like they first did worm and parasite treatment, now treating for rat poison and sounds like they are all over the place without a blood panel

when dd was going to be treated for ulcer the meds the vet was going to use were cerenia (anti-vomitting), reglan(metoclopramide), sulcrulfate(coats tummy), and amoxicillin (antibiotic)

i would take copies of everything and go to internal medicine as they will get to the heart of the problem much faster than a vet as they have further education and sounds like you have uoft near you which is an excellent facility

no problem that is good the stools are back to normal is she acting normal though as that is important too that she is not in any pain - the food you were feeding is a good quality food. Do you clean with any bleach or anything like that which she could have licked? I use only vinegar and water for cleaning as safe

My pup was with my sister for a few days before I met them in Nashville for pick up. She said she has rat poision in her cabinets but the pups didn't get in there. My sister wouldn't tell me if they got into something. She has so much junk so she really doesn't know herself. Since that possibilty was there, I guess the vet wanted to make sure.

I will google the U of T facility we have here in Memphis and see if I can get her in. They didn't give any antibiotic. I am just so stressed about it all. I have spent a nice chunk of change in the last 3 days.....

I fed her some of her Innova wet food last night and she ate almost all of it!!! Part of me feels its better quality than the food they sent home with her. She doesn't appear to be in pain at all. After I gave her some nutrical and forced her to eat, she has actually been playing with my hubby and running around. She has been eating some of this food they gave her on her own but just doesn't seem too thrilled about it. Now she seems to be tuckered out and is laying on the hardwood floor. She does like to lick the floors which has traffic and I use Pinesol for mopping them???? I really try to stop her from any licking on the floor.

ok that makes more sense -- did she have any bruising on her belly as bruising on belly is a sign of poison as hate to sound gross but the rat poison kills the rat from the inside out and why the bruising is important to know - and sounds like it was good of you vet to be safe with this

use vinegar and water as we have have hardwood floors and that is much safer with floor lickers

I don't see any bruising on her belly...It's all clear. I'm supposed to take with the vet again tomorrow for an update.

FYI: Innova is a very rich food. This is what I was feeding TJ and his GI tract couldn't handle it. Maybe change to Wellness....
