| Hi, We've been gone all day, this morning before we left I noticed she was holding one eye shut. She either got bit by the snake on her eye, or when she got bit she freaked and ran into something, but there is damage to her eye. I didn't ask a lot of details about exactly what happened because I'm pretty squeamish about eyes. The vet doesn't thinks he will lose the eye, but he's not sure how much vision she will have. They sewed it shut and I've got ointment to put on it for the next week, she's going back for a check up on Monday. I didn't even think about her eye, last night she looked at me and both eyes seemed fine, and then she sat around with both her eyes shut and I didn't think much about it. My poor little girl is sitting in my lap with an e-collar on and not very happy about it, but at least she's still groggy from being put out. Whitney |

| Thanks guys. I feel really bad about not catching it last night, but I was just so shook up about the snake I didn't even think about the possibility of it hurting her eye. Poor little girl I wish I had seen last night. At least her eye should be okay the vet didn't think she would lose it. Whitney |

| Hi Whitney, I hope your baby is going to be ok. I am glad she has been to the vet , and her eye is going to heal. Poor little one. That must have been so scary .Last night, I was on my balcony, and it was very lat in the am. I had my yorkie with me, just then, I saw a huge owl fly just above us. Holy crap, it scared me , thank goodness Suzi is on the bigger side , however, it did get me to think how easy it would have been for the owl to swoop , although beatuiful, it nearly made my heart stop beating.

I am so sorry about your baby. I was reading through this whole thread and wanted to say we have alot of copperheads where I live and one of my pups has been bitten twice. My vet gave me the same advice as yours. They really handle the bites very well. My vet just gave us pain meds and antibiotics for infection. My girl did well with no ill effects except her hair fell out where she was swollen from the bite. Also beware of walking sticks- two of my pups have been sprayed in the face by them. It stings really bad but no lasting effects. I hope your baby's eye heals up as good as new and again I am so sorry. I know you are so upset but these little guys are amazing!!! They take it better than we do and heal up quickly. God Bless | |

| Hi, She had a check up today that went well. They shaved the hair down around her eye and got the gunk off and said it was doing well and that the stitches should come out next Monday. Whitney |

| How terrifying! I'm glad she's doing okay, and will continue to pray for her little eye. Poor baby! Hope she's back to feeling 100% very soon.

| My little girl went to the vet today to get the stitches out, they took the ones out of her eyelid and the stitch that they put in her conjective something or other was still holding. They sewed it shut also to act like a bandage for the eye itself. They thought it would have dissolved by now. One of the vets who works there used to work for a vet who specialized in eyes and recommended that we just leave it because the longer it was shut the more healing it could do. So she can open her eyelid but it's covered and you can't see her eye so we don't know if she is going to be able to see or not. They want to see her again when the stitch comes out. I was really surprised the first visit cost me $80 including the ointment and everything and they haven't charged me for any of the follow up visits. It surprised me since they had to put her under I figured they would charge a lot more. Whitney |
