I'm glad to hear Lily is doing better. Keep on looking for answers and just love that little girl to pieces!! |
I'm so glad Lily continues to improve. I don't know anything about liver shunt, but I do agree that follow-up should be done just in case. Keep up the great work!!!! |
Is Lily still doing well..I hope so! |

Hi Becky, I'm sorry to hear that Lily had a setback. She has to be one strong little girl. Prayers are still coming your way. I wish I was there to give you a big hug. I'll check back with you later. God Bless you!! Love, Carol |
awwww Becky, I'm sorry to hear it. The vet told you to keep her on the protein? There ya go. Too much protien for the liver. Someone just posted to you, I think 2 pages back on now normal a dog can act and then boom, they can sick again. What she was describing is exactly how you are describing Lily. I also now believe your baby is suffering from liver shunt. When the other members come on,please listen to them, especially the ones who have babies with liver shunts. they are the experts. A big muahhhh to you |
Becky, please follow what TLC and Ellie May have told you. No protein try and feed only what they suggested. You could lose her. Not alot of vets are up to date on Liver issues. The BAT test should only cost 100 dollars. They are there for half a day. I went thru 4 vets before I found the right one. I would travel to Ellies Vet. Good Luck. |
Please try the LS diet and Lactulose for a few days. You really have nothing to lose. It will not harm your baby and if you see improvement, then you have an answer! Give you baby belly rubs and a big yorkie kiss on her head from us! Thoughs and prayers coming your way ~~~~ |
I am so sorry to hear that Lily had more seizures. Please listen to what the others have said about feeding her too much animal protein. It causes dogs with shunts to build up ammonia in their body which causes seizures and other neurological symptoms. Try restricting her to protein that her liver can handle like eggs, cottage cheese and yogurt along with oatmeal, rice, sweet potato, etc. until you can get her tested. Here is good article with some sample recipes: Liver | B-Naturals.Com Newsletter |
Bless her heart  praying for you guys. |
As I have said before, I do think she has a shunt, and feeding her any food with animal protein is posion to her fragile little body. Please change her food to a liver friendly diet, please get Lactulose, as this will help rid her fragile body of the toxins that are building up and can kill her. Please get Ellie May's Vet info and head straight there. Her Vet is very knowledgable when it comes to LS... |
