Becky - PLEASE please please get this baby checked for LIVER SHUNT asap! The folks who've posted their concerns about this being liver shunt are so correct in being concerned about this - and they know so much about this issue and the symptoms.
If you re-read TLC and Ellie May's posts, those posts even give some thoughts on diet etc. if this is liver shunt.
We've seen these symptoms here at YT over and over, and I so hope you'll get this test - it's really necessary. If you can see Ellie May's vet, I know from what she has told me that her vet is just incredible. | Yes
IF she has a Liver Shunt, it doesn't mean a death sentence. HOWEVER, she is soooooooooooooo tiny, and the toxic build up in her tiny system may not be able to handle it. That is why it is so important to NOT add more toxins (wrong foods). In this case, I really suggest that you either get the Hills L/D wet food. Some folks heat it in the microwave, bake it, or add some water and blend it. OR - I would scramble and egg, and either make rice or noodles, then puree it all together. The amount of egg though should be about 1/3 LESS the amount of the rice or noodle. She needs protein, but it needs to be low (but quality protein). Please do not give her any meat, chicken or anything with organ meat (ex: beef liver). LS babies should be feed about 6 small meals a day, spread thru the whole day/night. And I would suggest getting your Vet to give you some Lactulose, whether she has a LS or not the Lactulose will not hurt her. But if she has a LS, the Lactulose has properties that it binds to the toxins in her body and helps to rid them thru waste (poops). Her poops need to be like soft serve ice cream. Not too hard and not too soft. At her age, she should be pooping about 3 or 4 times a day.
I hope things get better... |
