| Devastated ,lily kisses might not make the night my baby was fine yesterday running playing and eating everything. she woke me in the night with weird noises i found her stiff gritting teeth and saliva thick and oozing out her nose and mouth .she was un responsive for a while then began shaking and was listless .a seizer for sure. i got her to the hospital they ran every test they could .no parvo lungs heart look good all blood work good EXCEPT liver emzymes but vet said he cant do shunt test on her now she is to young and needs to fast 12 hours would require fluids all night and she was to stressed. he is down to 3 things upper resp.infection.but unlikely. 2. distemper which he thinks is what her signs are even though breeders dogs are healthy and lily has not been around any dogs he said she had been at a vet office in past 12 days so could have been airborne exposure he did a test for it but wont get results until monday and told me lily will die if she has it before we even get results no real treatment tamiflu he may try if tomorrow she is throwing up wants to avoid now as it is hard on organs. he gave her clindamycin and flagl even though neg. for paracites. she is laying lifeless next to me i took her back and had iv pt in and brought her home on the iv as i am a nurse and why pay them 600.00 to just sit there .md said they cant do nothing more and it dont look good for her 20 percent survival rate. im in panic mode my heart is riped out i have cried until i need to go in myself for a sedative. im watching her die why why why she was doing soooooo well. md cant answer either. i may not be back on here tonight i dont know im to sick now to even sit up. please we need prayers my tiny baby lily is so precious and so sick .i know you guys would want to know. thanks for all your caring. |

| Whoa. Please don't give up. If liver enzymes are up, it is likely liver shunt or microvascular dysplasia. A twelve hour fast "used" to be required for the preprandial blood draw but the recommendation has since changed. Now just a fast overnight is considered enough. When the dog is too small to fast at all, then just the postprandial can be done. If she is too small to draw anymore blood from, then she could jsut be treated as though it is LS (minus the surgery). In other words, it won't hurt to changed her to Science Diet L/D canned for now and get her on Denosyl and Lactulose immediately. If she perks up, it is likely the problem. Why didn't the vet send her to someone who could handle this? MSU? Oakland Referral? Because LS is so common in Yorkies, that would be my first guess. Of course it may be something altogether different... I would not give her any food beyond the L/D or Royal Canin LS 14 for now. Ellie's vet may be able to help you/refer you somewhere if it isn't too late but it would be a bit of a drive for you...

| Something I saw on animal cops about a dog who had distemper , she had squinty eyes , and when you touched the top of her of her head right in the middle, the dog would automatically flinch. It was a neurological response. this dog was very ill. Unfortunately she did not make it. I am very sorry your baby is so sick. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your little puppy. The hardeset part is not knowing what it is that is causing the sickness .

| I am so sorry to hear about Lily. Those early shots may not take as the maternal antibodies they get from nursing interfere with them. Puppies are 16-18 weeks before they can really respond to vaccinations so they are at a very high risk for deadly puppy diseases like distemper and parvo. Did your vet know if he treated any cases of distemper around the time Lily had her vet appointment? Distemper is mostly seen in pet store puppies who are taken from their mothers too soon and in close quarters with many other dogs. I am so sorry. I pray she will pull through. |

| What ages was she vaccinated for distemper? What symptoms did she have (if any) before yesterday?
