What you described her doing is exactly what my Gizmo did after eating a meal high in protien. Gizmo had a liver shunt. What kind of food have you been feeding her? Has she been a good eater, or has she been picky? I would get her to a vet with experience dealing with liver shunts ASAP. Both you and your baby are in my prayers. I understand how scary this is for you.

Praying for you and Lily both. I agree with other posters, get her to MSU as soon as you can. We've had our Toby there for cardiac issues and they are fantastic with little ones.

Adding my prayers for Lily. My girls are older, but they both had Tamiflu back in December when they had the doggie flu and both did just fine with it.....

I lost my baby at 12 weeks to L/S. It was very similar to what you are explaining. Pinky was fine at bedtime & the next morning she was nearly gone. Had to find a vet on Sunday morning as mine was out of town. Pinky continued to have seizures until the end. Praying for a miracle for you. Yannie

PLEASE get this baby to MSU or Oakland or contact Ellie May's Vet, her Vet is excellent with Liver Shunt knowledge.

What you describe is truly the classic Liver Shunt symptoms and she really, really needs to be on the proper meds to rid those toxins that are building up in her tiny little system. Those toxins need to be out via Lactulose and poop. These toxins that her liver can not filter are causing the seizures and the neuro behavior.....

And whatever you do, please do not feed her meat or organ meat. Liver shunt babies do best on Veggie or Dairy Protein (minimal amounts though)...

Please keep us posted, we are all praying

thank you so much joanne i really can feel your love and tthat you are feeling my pain. you have been a wonderful friend to me and lily since i came on here. i am just so much in shock right now. it was just a flash and she was ill really no sign at all. she is lifting her head some now and actually licked some chicken gravy from a dish. but acts so afraid of me even .neuro senses are like hot pokers it seems.and she acts confused.all signs of distemper im afraid. i keep praying to god its something else like a cold but i cant see her having a seizure with a cold. and her blood sugar level was fine per the vet. please keep praying for a miracle. i will call you tomorrow if you dont mind.

Please take her to a vet that knows about LS (most have little to no exp with it) and If her dog food is higher protien I would take her off of it now just in case. All of these things you are describing, the circles, climbing, head pressing, and seizures are all symptoms of LS and since it has come on so fast I would get her on lactulose asap, and lower her protein intake until you can get a definative answer. If it is LS there is a build up of toxins in her system and it can kill her if she continues to take in more toxins than her body can filter through.

I am so sorry that your going through all of this, it is so scary and heartbreaking to see your baby so sick. Please know that my prayers are with you and little Lilly Kisses tonight.
