| After all that has transpired with health issues lately, My vet recommended I get pet health insurance (VPI is the name of the company).... Has anyone else had good experiences and happy about getting insurance for our doggies? Ellie can't get it now, since she has a health condition. But I am thinking of getting it for Ascher, my 10 month old Yorkie pup. Julie |

| Hi, Yesterday, Ellie had the procedure to get a "sample" of the tumor. the pathologist and oncologist, along with 2 other drs. are going to confer over the results on Monday (when they get it back from the lab). In the meantime, I contacted Dr. marc Peterson who does the Iodine radiology (2 doctors told me about his treatment), but he said he only does it with cats. The treatment is in the research stage with dogs...in Tennessee. I was too upset to write on here today. I had held on the hope that Dr. Peterson would be able to treat Ellie....now I find out today that he will not..... I need a miracle for Monday. I will post what happens, and hopefully someone may comment on it. I am all alone and scared. Right now, Ellie does not seem to be experiencing any pain. She coughs once in a while, drinks more than usual, and pees more than usual. She eats and plays. I never want her to suffer. I'll find out more about the tumor on Monday..... thank you everyone, again..... Julie |

| I am so sorry that Dr. Peterson won't be able to do the radiation therapy. Hopefully you'll find out some encouraging news on Monday. Perhaps you could contact the veterinary school in Tennessee and see if you can get some information? In the meantime it sounds like Ellie is comfortable and that's wonderful news. Please don't feel alone because you have a whole forum full of animals lovers that are here to help in any way we can. ((hugs)) |

| Thank you for writing again. I am having a difficult time getting through until Monday. I kept "googling" information on Ellie's condition, etc. and driving myself crazy. Julie |

I know exactly what you mean. When both Phoebi & Chan had their lp surgeries and especially after the 1st, I literally drove myself crazy trying to find more and more info. I know it'd be hard but if I were you I would put my faith and trust into Ellie's team of doctors. I'm sure between Dr. Strauss and Dr. Alsarraf they will be up to the minute in all the options for Ellie's care. | |

| I'm so sorry Dr. Peterson won't be able to peform surgery on Ellie. I know it is hard but try not to lose hope. I'm sure your current team of doctors can help you come up with other options. I'm sure you are driving yourself crazy waiting for Monday to get here. Try to relax (so much easier said than done) and just spend some time with your girl. ![]() I know from experience researching medical conditions online only serves to work me up even more. Hang in there.

| Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I'm so sorry you're going through all of this uncertainty...not to mention the lack of info out there (I looked too, and there isn't much to be found that's really helpful). U of Tenn is an excellent place, and it'd be worth talking to someone there to find out your options. I'm hoping for the best and that you find some answers and medical support -- and please know that you're not alone...you and your baby are in my thoughts and I'll continue to keep hoping for the best outcome.

| Hi, I'm still not quite sure how to post messages, etc. on here...never was too computer literate! Today is a tough one. I'm looking for all the feedback and suggestions I can get...and some support again, sorry....my vet just phoned back this morning, after talking to Ellie's diagnostician. Ellie has cancer...and the vet said the ONLY place for the canine radioactive iodine treatment (which is still quite experimental in dogs--as it it as he said "dangerous") is in Tennessee at the vetinary hospital (u of Tenn)....there are no statistics regarding survival etc. because it is all so new. Is this too traumatic for Ellie? Financially, I don't even have the money probably but would beg, and borrow if need be. I have a meeting this afternoon with an oncologist, dr. Altsarraf (spelling?).... what do you think? |

| I wish I had magic words for you, as your love shines through... All I can add is that U of Tenn is highly regarded, at least with their Liver Shunt surgery and research. People do travel from all over to go to U of Tenn |
