| Im losing my old dog My 15 yo golden/black chow mix, Dove, (he looks like a black golden w/ a purple tongue) has terminal cancer. It has now spread through most of his body. We are doing everything we can to keep him happy & comfy until he takes his last breath and goes sweetly over the bridge to meet our other dear friends that have gone before him. He is the most gentle giant with the most soulful eyes. He is sweet, kind, patient and incredibly smart and loving. We have him on steroids now to ease his nausea and hip soreness. Because of the steroids, he has become very constipated. I have heard about using pumpkin but Im not sure exactly which kind to use. The canned pumpkin meat or pumpkin pie filling?? I have to say, he would love the sweet pie filling to bits, but maybe I could even mix a lil of both for the sweet flavor?? Anyway, sorry this is so long, but I just now sit here and realize how much I miss him already. My 3 yorkies fuss over him all the time now, as they can sense somethings wrong. Its so sweet and as I watch them all now, a broken hearted tear falls. Thank you for any help.....I'll keep ya posted

| It is so hard to see our loved ones slowly move towards that rainbow bridge. I am sorry you are in this position. You can tell how much you love him by the way you write. It brings tears to my eyes.

| What a sweetheart. I love seeing his picture. I'm so sorry that you are approaching this difficult time. My heart goes out to you and your family. I think it's beautiful that you are thinking so much about his comfort and making his days as peaceful and painful as possible. He is obviously very loved. |

| I'm sorry you are losing your precious one. I just went through this with our Golden.. it's so hard to say goodbye. As far as the pumpkin... I haven't used it for a while but when I did I just used the pie filling - it was just pumpkin with nothing else added. He deserves anything he wants at this stage. |

| Prayers from a fellow Scot here (originally from Edinburgh). Your baby Dove looks just like our Lab Wallace (as in William Wallace.) A few years ago we lost Rodak (shepard/rot) to cancer also. Dove's kind eyes will talk to you as Rodak's did. In the meantime all that you're doing is all that he wants and needs. I am so sorry. Our "big" guys seem so wise, don't they! This Monday my mum passed. I had asked her to show signs from above. Every single sign I've received has been one "Scot" related; so your Dove provided me a little comfort today. Thank you, Dove. |
