My 15 yo golden/black chow mix, Dove, (he looks like a black golden w/ a purple tongue) has terminal cancer. It has now spread through most of his body. We are doing everything we can to keep him happy & comfy until he takes his last breath and goes sweetly over the bridge to meet our other dear friends that have gone before him. He is the most gentle giant with the most soulful eyes. He is sweet, kind, patient and incredibly smart and loving.
We have him on steroids now to ease his nausea and hip soreness. Because of the steroids, he has become very constipated. I have heard about using pumpkin but Im not sure exactly which kind to use. The canned pumpkin meat or pumpkin pie filling?? I have to say, he would love the sweet pie filling to bits, but maybe I could even mix a lil of both for the sweet flavor??
Anyway, sorry this is so long, but I just now sit here and realize how much I miss him already. My 3 yorkies fuss over him all the time now, as they can sense somethings wrong. Its so sweet and as I watch them all now, a broken hearted tear falls.
