| Ears down after being neutered? My mom and I both got our males neutered on Monday. My baby (Shiloh) was a bit subdued when we picked them up, kinda groggy but seemingly not so bad off (considering the circumstances). My mom's lil boy (Trey) was shaking like a leaf, and could barely keep his eyes open. On Monday Trey had diahhrea once, and today he threw up once and he shook off and on most of the day yesterday. I know all of those symptoms are pretty normal, but I was wondering this. Trey's ears were perked before surgery and now they are floppy again. It did take him awhile to get them to stand up when he was a puppy but they have been standing up for several months now. Are they down because he is in pain? I know its common for their ears to become floppy when they are teething but not the reasoning behind it. My mom and I are really concerned for the little guy, with his ears down he looks so pitiful and sad and if it is an indication he is in pain we want to get him back to the vet asap! Thanks for your advice ahead of time! Last edited by Shiloh Zayne; 05-12-2009 at 08:03 PM. Reason: hit submit on accident before done with post |

| droopy ears My boy Dax had a problem with droopy ears after receiving his 1 yr booster vacines. He was quite lethargic and his ears fell...this went on for a couple days without other symptoms.....it was like he forgot to keep them up. I don't know if this will help answer your question but I put a little piece of scotch tape on each ear just to call his attention to them and he started to hold them up right away. I hope your baby gets better soon and you might try this trick if he doesn't pick up his ears. |

| Did the vet give pain meds? The shaking might just be a reaction to the anesthea or it could be because of pain. Not sure about the ears

My furkids Donating Member | Sorry to hear this...I had both of my girls done at the same time. One came out of the anesthesia faster than the other. The smaller of the two, Lillie, reacted like that. She couldn't move. Just laid on her pillow...Half of her little body would slide off of the pillow and she couldn't even adjust herself. I would say that the ears down could have something to do with pain. I would call your vet..Sadie (older of the two) was fine when we took her home....Lillie took a few days.

| Thank you for all the advice and well wishes. Trey is feeling much better today and his ears are back up! I guess it just took him a little bit longer to bounce back but he is back to his old playful self again. |
