| My Baby Has IBD My poor sophie has IBD. It was just confirmed today. The Speiclist was pretty sure she had it when he did the scope on Friday. He put her on prednisone on friday. She hasn't been herself all weekend. she throw up a couple of times on monday and had diarrhea on tues. This morning she was really sick. so i took her to see the vet and she has to stay there. They are putting her on an IV and going to run some test. i'm not sure how long she will be there. i'm going back tonite to visit her. i feel so helpless. Lucky for sophie that her speicalist is in a Er vet office. And she will be with the same vet techs she knows and loves. she was so sad today. i miss her already. The Er is not as close to me as i would like. But they are very good there and have lots of speicalist in that office. Last edited by Fashionlady; 05-13-2009 at 09:41 AM. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh no . I hope she feels better very soon. Did they mention using Tylan powder to you at all? It works well for some IBD dogs.

| Thanks everyone!! I'm just home waiting for them to call me. She said she would called lated today. she was just soo sad today. i think worst the thing is that the house is sooo queit without her. i've been checking on her alot since friday. i keep thinking to myself i better go see how my little girl is and than I remember she is not here. i think she was a little mad at me for taking her there for the scope on friday! She was hanging out with her daddy most of the time. I knew when i found her in her bed this morning she was really sick. she olny goes in her bed if she doesn't feel good or it she wants to hide something. |

Therapy Dog Donating Member | Oh I'm so sorry to hear about your baby, Sophie. Trust me I know how ou feel. Izzy was diagnosed with pancreatitis in November and has had it 3 times since. It's so sad to see your baby so sick. Please keep us posted and we'll be praying for her to pull through this.

| sophie had pancreatitis in march and when she didn't get better the specialist and i deiceid to do the scope as I understand it sometimes the pancreatitis is caused by other prolbems. she would be fine for 2 plus week than the next thing you know she was throwing up. i just talked to the vet all her blood test are good no pancreatitis this time. she is looking a little better. they are going to keep her on the iv tonite and they have given her pepside and her streiods. I'm going to go see her later tonite. |

Wow see I really think Izzy has more than a pancreatitis issue..I had thought too at one time she might have an IBD issue..we are giving her the pecpid daily now and wow does that help her - she is perky and eating and no issues right now. Give her smooches from me and Izzy..we know all too well how hard this is on you and baby Sophie.

| Thanks I will, I'm glad you baby is doing well. I've been reading about IBD in dogs and i have found that to truely find IBD they need to scope and do a biopsy. The speicalist gave me the choice of just treating her for it or doing the scope to rule it out first. I didn't want to put Sophie on meds she might not need and there was also the fact that cancer might be the problem. Which she doesn't have thank god!!! Sophie has in in the the upper ig tract. Which is why she was throwing up. |
