| TJ is REALLY SICK Monday morning, I woke to him throwing up bile. Then he had a huge, very soft but formed poop. After that, a little more vomit and softer and softer poop. It is now Weds. afternoon, the poop has turned to squirt diarrhea, he still is vomiting. He was at the Vet on Sat. for heart worm test and titers. Sunday the neighbors dog got into our yard and had diarrhea on our patio. I cleaned it up, hosed it down and sprayed a Clorox spray 3x on it. This dog and TJ *did* touch thru the screen (TJ was in kill mode). Sunday night, I stupidly gave him 2 tiny, tiny, tiny, pieces of Papa Johns Thin Pizza crust. We went to the Vet this morning. He doesn't have a temp, no signs of true pain, no noises coming from him. He is tired (neither of us have slept the past two nights). He will rest and then gets up and has to poop. It takes a good while for him to find a spot, and then a squirt noise and a glob of diarrhea. I have been washing his butt in the sink. Since Monday morning he's probably vomited bile or clear foam mucus about 10 times, and numerous upon numerous squirt poops. The Vet and I discusses possible Giardia, but Roxy is 100% fine It could be a mild case of Pancreatitis, but he doesn't seem to be in pain And it could be his IBD has flared up We talked about the Tylan (again) as TJ did very well on it, but it isn't a quick fix and I feel like giving it a few days first to see if he gets better.... He gave me Sucralfate (which is a nitemare to administer) and Famotidine. I am forcing Pedilite via syringe and in his water bowl. Which he will drink on his own. Although, I haven't seen him pee much He ate dinner last night which was boiled Chicken and plain mashed potatoes. I just tried to feed him again, and he only ate a little chicken. Please keep my baby in your good thoughts.... |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh Nicole ! Scary. Poor TJ. I wish you had an answer, for sure. I will say many adult dogs who come in contact and/or catch giardia may not show a single sign of it, other than maybe one day of a softer poo. So even though Roxy is feeling good, it could still be giardia. Did they do a CBC or anything? Were the white cells elevated, if they did one? Fecal test? I will keep him in my thoughts!!!

| Oh Nicole, how sad. That amount of crust shouldn't have affected him. I would give that to a dog. If he isn't better in a day or 2, I'd really consider blood work. They don't have to show pain for it to be the pancreas and if that's the case food would be withheld. If he has been IBD free all this time and it was mostly mucousy poop before, I just don't know. Maybe the crust did have some grease on it. Although that dog in your yard sounds suspicious. Did they do a fecal?

| Nicole, I am sorry to see TJ is sick. I don't believe it's the crust that made him this way. I give that to Buddy too from time to time. Buddy was sick last week, throwing up and diarrhea but not as much as TJ. I hope the meds work for him. Will watch for an up date. Sending prayer's his way. I'm sure you know that canned pumpkin works great for diarrhrea. It was amazing how fast it worked for Buddy. Hoping it's just a bug he picked up and nothing more serious. | Thanks everyone... The crust is their thin crust pizza, so it was kinda hard cracker like and I am sure filled with grease, and it was really really small... IDK either TJ has been sick before, but this is weird...NO girgurling noises, no nothing. And he is sleepy but we haven't slept, he looks sorta sick but can also be up and alert too. Last night he wanted to eat dinner, he was hungry and he ate pretty well considering. Today he seemed to be hungry too, but he only ate a little chicken. The vomit has stopped, although he has had 2x where I think he kinda vomited up his nose, as he was blowing bubbles and when I cleaned up what was on the floor (that came out of his nose) it was brown/yellow tint. He just did another squirt - stinky and darker chocolate /rust color. He is resting now... Of course I have to go to work for a few hours - so I am blocking him in his room, with tons of pee pads, although I am gonna have to wash all the blankets again I am sure, bc his dirty butt is gonna be all over them again. IDK... No blood work yet and no fecal. If this is still happening tomorrow, then Yes - that's next I am gonna get some hamburger meat to boil tonight and I will try the pumpkin, although I don't think I can get TJ to eat it. I have tried in the past and he hates it Maybe I can bake it or something... Thanks again... |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Also Nicole, it may help to feed mashed potatoes - that's my "go-to" if I think the babies are nauseous. I used the canned kind (they come sliced), micro them, mash, and add a smidge of butter/salt. Poor guy.

I just don't know if that dog was sick or nervous. TJ has been episode free for like 3 yrs now, and when he had them you could tell he was sick, he acted sick, the monster noises, his poop was globs of mucus and he also would throw up *stuff* This time, his throw up is bile and clear water like. His poops don't have a whole lot of mucus, mostly water like - but that distinct gross smell like before. And he has to lap it out for a good while before he literally *squirts* it out. He even squirted in his car seat on the way home from the vet.... | |

| I wouldn't go with the hamburger. Beef isn't great if it were to be pancreatitis. I'd stay with something very, very lean like white meat chicken or turkey breast (with no drippy grease touching or draining into it). You could also just go to a carb like mashed potato or sweet potato.
