Therapy Dog Donating Member | ![]() Hope Cinnamon is doing better. My Izzy has severe pancreatitis and I don't want to scare you but if she is still vomiting and not eating you need to take her back to your vets. Also it will cost money to get her well I can't begin to tell you how much it cost to treat Izzy (she got sick in November 2008, April 2009 and again May 2009). She is totally on a bland diet (Science Diet and now on Purina EN) since that's all that she can handle. No treats. The pancreas has to rest before it gets better. Keep us posted on her. ![]()

| ![]() Take her to the vet, If he hooks her up to an iv and rehydrates her. If he is a good vet. Mine got maggie through the pancreaitis twice. The best thing was not letting her eat anything, eating grass is good this is how they get rid of this substance there pancreas puts out. Let her lick ice cubes. My maggie before the last time she had it, had a fever. The doc gave her only after 24 hours a little deli roast beef, or chicken just a little. maggie wouldn't touch the id. So the deli meat brought her back, a slow process of getting back on feed. Then the pill that takes care of gas and bloating. Then the id gradually. I also fed her hamburger and rice rinse the hamburger real good. more rice then hamburger. it brought her back to her feed. But grass does better hugs motherhen |

| ![]() They need to have no food, meds or water for 72 hrs with pancreatitis to let the pancreas calm down as it gets angry and can eat other organs if it gets bad enough - sorry to scare you but this is very serious and many dogs die from this and i almost lost mine and he ended up having to have a plasma transfusion through the jugular to save his life as he relapsed 5 days after the first bout. He has not had it since as i am very strict and he has been ok for 3 years now -- he is on an 8% fat diet now. He had a 12 hr fast blood test a few months ago and if you want to see if your dog is prone to this as many yorkies are if they have high triglycerides on a 12 hr fast then it means they have a high amount of fat in blood naturally and my dexter does as i never really knew what caused it but after reading this in whole dog journal it all made sense since i had just had blood work and the only thing off was his triglycerides were high and i found it odd since he is on a 8% fat diet with no treats so a light bulb went off and that is when it all came together as i have been racking my brain for 3 years trying to figure it out as i am ocd lol |
