So today after the vet she seemed better all day and then this evening she wanted to eat grass again which always means she wants to vomit.
I gave her the Reglan and hoped that would help, but her stomach is churning like crazy now and she is getting ready to vomit again. Im afraid she wont be able to keep the medications that I gave her down. She took them over an hour ago so hopefully if she vomits soon they will be absorbed. If she cant keep the medication down though how will she get better? Also he gave me some id food and told me to give her a small spoonful tonight, but she wouldnt touch it, which I figured she wouldnt. He also said to only give ice, no water but it is hard to keep her out of any water when I have two other dogs. i am just so worried and wondering is she need to go to the er vet to get iv meds. Her stomach is so loud that i can hear it across the room which is new.
I dont want to overreact...I spent $90 today at the vet...I hate to think of spending more but I also dont want to take chances. If you have been through this before...does it just take awhile to get better?
Should I let her eat grass so she does vomit? It seems to make her feel better but I hate to see it.
Please give me any advice you can. |
are you kidding me -ughhhh NO ID FOR PANCREATIC DOGS it has pork in it and caused my dog to relapse 5 days and then he had full blown pancreatitis. She needs to be on iv fluids for 72 hrs it sounds like as she is not eating and not keeping meds down so they should be feeding her through iv and giving her pain meds as this is extremely painful and they should be giving her antibiotics and anti-vomitting med cerenia --sounds like vet is not up to date on things as cerenia is the new anti-vomitting drug for pancreatitis and use to be metoclopramide but they only helps the digestive tract but cerenia affects the brain and digestive tract so a better anti-vomitting drug. Reglan is metoclopramide. If the dog cannot keep things down and still vomitting best to have her put on iv fluids or it could get more serious as each bout can get more serious. Once this is resolved you need to be very STRICT ON DIET no treats and a low fat diet PERIOD. If they get this over and over they can get DIABETES or EPI both of which are not fun.
