all I do is cry Widget has be diagnosed with legg-perthes disease. He is having surgery on Tuesday 4/7 and all I do is cry. Don't know why I can't snap out of it. It's not like he has been diagnosed with an incurable disease but I still can't stop crying. They are doing his right hip and hoping that the left will look better in time and will not have to be done, also. I have never been so devastated. I can't even talk about him without crying. It's stupid but how do I convince myself he will be fine?

You just will! Have faith not only in the vet, but in Widget. Believe in that, and you will find your inner strength. He needs you right now to be his strong caregiver, and his #1 advocate. You can do it, just because of your love for him!

| You will be okay and so won't Widget..... :-) I know how scary it can be though waiting for the operation.... I have fostered at least 5 dogs that have had this same surgery and all of their recovery time has been remarkable...... my Emerson had both legs done a couple months ago ...you would never know...except his hair has not fully grown back in yet.... I will be thinking of you and Widget for a speedy recovery....

post surgery Widget had surgery on his right hip yesterday. He and his mom both had a rough night last night but I am praying the worst is over and he will soon feel like living again. Thanks for your prayers and concerns. This is a great place to find support no matter what the circumstance may be. When I had my first Yorkie, many years ago I had never heard of any of these diseases. When did all this come about and what is causing all these problems in Yorkies?

Awwwww honey I'm so happy it's over for both of you. Give Widget a big hug from us. It seems to be the season for surgery on L/P. Two other members pups just had it also. Stedmansmom and Amandawash. You might want to send them off a pm for some support. Both are wonderful, caring people and I am sure they won't mind. Buddy and I are sending Widget good wishes for a speedy recovery. The reason for L/P it's due to the fact that breeders are breeding the mom's and dad with it and it's being passed down to the off spring. That's way is so important to get your pup from a breeder who breeds for the breed and not for $. Good luck to your baby, he'll be fine in no time.
