| Hoping For Suggestions/Help Hi. I'm the one that adopted 6 year old Cody in December. Since then he has had bladder stone surgery in January (did fine) and I got him neutered about 3 weeks ago (did great also). He is on prescription dry u/d food and he gets distilled water. Also on prescription treats. Everything has been going fine. However, last night he whined all night long. He sleeps with us. I took him out about 4 times. He would pee a little bit and did his normal poop. When he would finally settle down for about 45 min., he pressed himself hard against my leg. I called the vet this a.m. and they said he might just have had a stomach ache or felt bad. If he does this again tonight I am taking him in tomorrow. Has anyone else experienced this. Does your baby just cry/whine sometimes when they just don't feel well. Sorry for the long post. I've just gotten such good info off this forum that I guess I am looking for a little reassurance. The vet tech said it would be highly unlikely that another stone has formed. Thanks for letting me go on and on. |

| I am sorry Cody is not feeling well.Dogs usually hide pain well,so when it gets to where they are crying out they are usually in a lot of pain.I agree if he does it tonight a visit to the vet tomorrow is in order.Good luck and please keep us posted.

| What type of stones were they? Struvite, Calcium Oxalate or Ammonium Urate? If the urination sympoms were getting better and they are back again, he needs to be seen.

| I agree. If he's just peeing a just little bit at a time, he may have stones again. |

| Calcium Oxalate. He had his surgery Jan. 22nd. They removed 4. Could they have come back that quickly. What is wierd is that we didn't know that he had stones. Never whined or anything. Vet caught it with xray before getting him neutered. He has been acting perfectly fine until last night. I hope that is not what it is. The surgery was $1500.00. Of course, I'd pay it all over again if that is what it takes. Do Yorkies ever just whine for no reason? |

And his sugery was over a month ago? Hmm, that doesn't sound right. It could just be an infection maybe. My Yorkie always wants something when she whines but I don't always know what that something is.

| The restlessness and your observation of his urinary patterns are more indicative of a problem. Have him checked again. Be very specific with your vet of your observations. Those often add clues to proper diagnosis. Whining and pain whining are two different sounds. Becoming increasingly astute to your yorkies vocalizations and facial expressions can tell you much about what is going on with him.

| Thanks to you all for your responses. I had a Jack Russell for 15 years and this is my first rescue Yorkie. I have fallen in love with the breed. The difference between yorkie/jack russell is as different as day/night. If this happens again tonight, he will be at the vet tomorrow unless he seems worse when I get home and I'll take him immediately. I guess what stumps me is that he never whined/whimpered or anything when he had the stones and an enlarged prostate problem. Even with surgery for stones/neutered he never whined. As he is getting more use to my husband and myself, he is getting quite demanding. It will take me awhile to know the difference in wanting attention and not feeling well. |
