| I know this may sound crazy, but could she just be passing gas? When Winston "toots"...it actually scares him...he tucks his tail and butt down and skitters away and hides, like he did something wrong.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | That's funny you say that, because I noticed that Lola gets scared when she throws up. That's hilarious that when yours passes one, it scares him! hehe...with Lola, I feel like she thinks she did something wrong when she throws up. I have never scolded her for it at all, I don't know why. Usually, I just pet her, and make her feel that it's ok. But it happens still. She'll run away and hide, and that's when I would look around for throw up. Recently, it's happening, even when she hasn't thrown up though. It's very weird. It has been very thought consuming, and I am desperately awaiting a peace of mind...... |

| Ok this might sound crazy but has she pooped lately? Tucker got constipated once and he would whine and pace and yelp out really loud!! This is just a thought, and you did say she she was scooting her butt across the floor & Tucker also does that when he has to poop! Just a idea of what might be wrong! Hope she gets better soon and hope you find out what is going on!! That can be very scary. |

Sometimes things like Metronidazole, Tylosin and diet change are tried first though. Sometimes it just isn't enough and they need something strong like prednizone. Some vets won't prescribe it without doing a biopsy first.

| Have you heard anything back from the vet about the xrays & culture yet? I know you are worried sick, I would be as well. Why is it always so difficult to diagnose these little guys? Still in my thoughts and prayers...

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Thanks everyone for your sincere thoughts/prayers!! I'm sorry it took me a while to post an update!! I hate when people don't post updates, and now I am doing it I apologize. I've been extremely sick with the flu for the past 4 days, and can hardly move, so I am really sorry. Anyway, the vet did call. He left a message since I have been sick and was sleeping when he called. He called yesterday and I plan to call him back today and have a chat with him. The culture of Lola's urine came back normal, with no evidence of a UTI. The xrays looked pretty normal. I just don't get it!!! i have my list of things that you all have mentioned to test, and I will be suggesting it to the dr. As for Lola's behavior recently, she's seems normal most of the time. But just as usual, she'll have these "episodes" (for lack of a better word), and act very bizarre. I have tried to monitor them and try and see what happens right before them, but I literally cannot find anything that triggers it. I think we're just going to have to continue on with the testing, and monitor her behavior. I can't tell if it's getting worse, or staying the same. It's definitely not getting better. The vet seems to think there are a lot of things that it can be, and it's just about narrowing down the choices. I cannot thank each and everyone of you enough, for your help and support! It keeps me sane in a relatively chaotic situation to know that I have you all here for me I'm hoping we can come to some sort of solution soon. P.S. I haven't told the vet yet, but I will today, but I noticed that her poop seems to be a weird greenish color. I haven't changed her food at all, and she doesn't eat table scraps. I don't know if that's normal or not. The vet just told me to watch, and see if she was passing any sort of trace of blood, so after watching, I've only noticed the green. Thanks everyone!! Sorry there's really no news to convey |

| Thanks for the update! Glad to hear that the test results were ok...but sure is frustrating not knowing what it is. We're all praying for Lola, & hope you'll find answers soon. Everyone I know is coming down w/the flu too! I woke up w/a lump on my throat...

The one thing that keeps popping into my mind is Atlantoaxial Subluxation. Although she is much older than they usually are when they present the symptoms, but it always could be a possibility. Most vets aren't well-educated in this disease, but it may be worth it for you to do some research and be armed with the information should all your tests be inconclusive. Good luck!!

| I hope you figure this out. I just want to add one possibility. Ginger used to yelp and run off and hide in a corner (one time in a closet) and shake...drove us nuts trying to figure out what caused it. Now...you may laugh, but one night we saw the whole thing up close...that's when we realized, she's afraid of her farts. She still runs and sits in a corner and shakes, but it doesn't last nearly as long...Just something to keep in mind while you are searching for a diagnosis.

| I'm just seeing this now. Reesie shrieked the same way and then hid under the bed. No way could we get her out. This happened a few times. When we did pull her out she was shaking bad. Her exam showed LP's in both knees with the right being Grade 4. When the knee pops out and won't pop back in it's pretty painful, and the little tike probably thought something was out to hurt her. That's the opinion of her vet. She's fine now and doesn't hide anymore. We're still in rehab and go at it gently, but her old happy attitude is back! And no more shrieks. |
