Make sure they check her knees. I had a poodle whoses knees wouls slip in and out and sometimes lock in place and she would be in lots of pain when this happened. She was fine for long periods and when it happened she would scream in pain

How strange. I hope the vet can diagnose and fix the problem quickly. Good luck sweetie.

Hope it is something minor! When my pom had a seizure she let out a weird howl maybe it could be some sort of seizure.

Animal Smiley 019 $300 later, and just the beginning....

Just got back from the vet. Everyone's responses were EXACTLY things that my vet mentioned. They ran a bunch of tests on her. We will get the results tomorrow. They wanted to do X-rays as well but I decided to see what these other tests show first, and then if they don't show anything, go back for X-rays.

Lola has had a bunch of stomach problems, so the vet said it could possibly be pancreatitis Also, since she scoots her bum on the ground, they tested her anal glands as well. I just learned that when they scoot their bums on the ground, you need to take them to the vet right away because they're anal glands are bothering them. That's so interesting, I never knew. He's not sure if that's what was causing it though.

He said the behavior is definitely of a dog that is showing discomfort, so we will just keep trying to figure out what's going on. He also mentioned seizures, but I think it might be her tummy. Also, she definitely has luxating patellas, but he didn't seem to think that was what was causing it.

I'm SOOO glad you guys told me to go to the vet!! This whole time, I was just thinking I had a severely anxious dog, and had NO idea that it could be something more serious!! I just hope we can diagnose the problem, and help her. I know pancreatitis is very serious, and I am praying it's not that!!

Yorkiekids - She DOES make a lot of sounds in her sleep. I'm not sure if they're nightmares, but I always think they are, so I gently start petting her, and trying to make her feel safe. Why?? Is this a sign of something??

Unhappy The vet just called with the results....

Good news & bad news. Good news is: nothing showed up. The bad news is: nothing showed up, so now we have to do more tests to find out the problem. UGH! I'm going INSANE!! This is SO stressful and KILLING my bank account!! They're going to send her urine off for a culture, and I'll be taking her in for Xrays tomorrow. If they still can't find the problem, I'll die. I"M SO STRESSED OUT ABOUT THIS. Not only for the health of my little one, but all the money it's taking. I'm looking into pet insurance right now, but it would be a $200 deductible, so it wouldn't even cover the xrays/culture. But just in case, I think I will get the insurance still.

UGHHHHHHH!!!!! I am praying we figure it out. She was still acting funny yeseterday and was hiding under the bed, and wouldn't come out when we got home. That's not at all typical. She's usually ecstatic to see us when we get home. I"m SO worried!!

I am so sorry I know how frustrating it is. Sometimes I think dogs are harder than kids because they can't tell us what is wrong. Hopefully the Dr.'s will figure it out quickly and you can get some rest.

So sorry you & your furbaby have to go through this...getting some sort of insurance sounds like a smart idea (although you need to shop around for a good one). As for hiding under the bed, shaking/shivering...Mimi did this only once after she gave birth to her pups & she was moaning too...took her to the vet right away & she got blood work done. She had some sort of bacterial infection which anti-biotics took care of right away. Hope all goes well...

Shoot, I'm not completely sure about the exact tests. On the receipt this is what it shows:

Anal sac Expression
Adult screen
Canine Pancreatic Specific Lipase - Add on

It doesn't say exactly the blood work tests. I know today they are sending her urine in for a culture to see if there's a urinary tract infection. The x-rays are tomorrow at 3:15pm, so I'll let you know what happens with that.

I'm just so incredibly worried, and I sincerely appreciate all your thoughts from the bottom of my heart. I think whatever it is it's getting worse, because she's been acting different ever since that incident the other night. The doctor also said it might be something with her bowels or something. I can't remember exactly, irritable bowel syndrome maybe? I can't remember. They will test for that later though if nothing comes up in the x-rays.

I was thinking that she has had a few minor falls before, so maybe the xrays will be the answer. I'm hoping. They're just so fragile it probably doesn't take much to hurt their little bodies.

I am sorry to hear all this is going on with your baby. Poor little thing, she must feel horrible, and not being able to tell you what it is that is hurting her. Taking her to the vet, even though it is expensive, is the best thing for her. If she is sick she needs to get healed and only the doctor will know that. Thank goodness she has got a loving home who views her as part of the family and not just a tool in the shed. Please keep us posted about what is going on with her and the doctors. Best wishes.

Can you tell us a little more about her? How old is she? How much does she weigh? Does she eat, pee and poop well? The luxating patella could be the cause...maybe it slipped...and it scared her. Did the vet tell you what stage she was? I'll keep her in my thoughts and prayers...get well little one...be well...and stay well.

She will be 2 years old on April 14. She weighs about 4.5lbs. She does eat/pee/poop well, but does throw up a lot. She's got a very sensitive tummy, so I have to be really careful with what she eats. He didn't tell me the stage it's at. I should've asked. I will ask tomorrow when we go to the vet. The vet did say it could be a slipped disc or something? Thanks so much everyone for your thoughts Means so much to me.
