| HYSTERICAL CRYING someone please help I need someone to help me feel better about this....Mya (9 months old, 9.5 lbs) was running outside tonight playing, and she got into her manic mode and started sprinting. The next thing I know she started crying so loud and limping toward me....i freaked out she wouldnt walk or move for 30 minutes. I took her to the Emergency Vet asap. They took an Xray...fractured hip...she needs surgery. They said it is a fluke and she will be fine...but i am freaking out...I am taking her to her normal vet in the morning asap to get a 2nd opinion, cuz i want her surgery done by the vet who knows her and who i trust vs. the one the emergency vet refers me to. She has been under anesthetic before and did fine...but i am just freaking out. Has anyone else had this happen??? Please tell me she's going to be okay

| I am so sorry your baby got hurt. I have not had anything like this happen but I can sure feel your pain in your post. Praying that your baby's surgery will go well and she will be well soon. Hugs

Thor's Human Donating Member | Oh, poor doggy! Nothing in life is guaranteed, but if she has been under anaesthesia before, she should be fine again. She looks like a decent-sized dog, which helps too. She'll be back on her feet and I promise she will forget about it much faster than you will. Animals are much more resilient that way than people. |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | My 4-pounder had two major surgeries after 10 years old, and he not only survived, he thrived. The first was to repair a torn cranial cruciate ligament. He was walking on it fine the day he got his cast off. The second was to repair a perineal hernia. He was walking on it on Day 2 and running by Day 3. As QuickSilver says, there are no guarantees, but Yorkies are a surprisingly hardy breed, even the tiny ones. I wish you the best of luck. Try not to worry. You're doing what's best for her.

| If you have some baby asprin, I think giving her a whole one would be fine. My vet said it was ok to give my 2.3lb puppy half, so maybe even 1 & 1/2 would be ok. that might calm thing s down some till you can get to the vet tomorrow. |

| Oh, how awful for you and your baby! I agree with the previous comments: if she's come through anesthesia and surgery well in the past, that sets a good precedent for her next surgery. And she will forget about it before you do! Two of my dogs have undergone major surgeries and neither of them seemed to be bothered after a week or so had passed. They are more resilient than we are! I hope things go well for you both and that she is out frisking about again soon.

| Still up, can't take my eyes off her...I am so sad for her, she hasn't even given me any kisses I pulled her crate out into the den (she made it clear she wanted to go in it when she tried to walk toward the bedroom, she slept for awhile and woke up not too long ago... I had some boiled chicken leftover bc she has had diahrrea the past 2 days, and she SCARFED it down, and a few treats and food....she hadn't eaten since morning. She also hasn't pood...i feel it in her belly, she must have to go SO bad, and pee, but she won't even move when i take her outside, just looks at me with those little black eyes...sigh, I hope she will go if the time comes she has to go bad enough...if not i might ahve them do an enema before the surgery

| I am so sorry that little Mya was injured. Will keep her in my prayers. Hopefully the recovery will be quick and she will be zipping around again before you know it. Yorkies are, indeed, tough little guys!

| I'm so sorry your little one is hurt and not feeling well. Maybe you can call the vet and ask if theres anything you can give her for "breakthrough" pain. Or ask if theres another med you can give her that is given more times a day rather and a long-acting drug. I find the long-acting meds dont usually cover the whole 24 hours(at least with people it doesnt). Also...have you tried helping her to go to the bathroom...by this i mean maybe getting a long towel and supporting her mid-section so she doesnt put any pressure on her back legs? Hope things start to get better for you and your baby. My prayers are with you both.
