She's at home sleeping now. She was pretty awake when I picked her up but is still really sleepy. She ate a little and is on her bed now. They sent home some pain meds but they said she probably won't need them after tomorrow. She just has a small incision with two stitches. They said she should be back to normal in a couple days..they just want her to rest tonight and tomorrow. And no bath for 10 days...and she's a mess. They shaved more on her sides, one front leg, and one back foot..and she has some sticky stuff in her hair. She was glad to see me when I picked her up.

Bless her heart. I know she must have been overjoyed to see you. Sorry her hair is in such a mess.
What can that mean that she has scarring on her liver? I know you must be on pins and needles waiting on the test results.
I will be keeping you and Lacy in my thoughts. And hoping for good results.

I guess just that liver cells are damaged and scarring is occuring..but we won't know what has caused it until after the results I guess

So glad she is at home with you and Riley. Your care and love will surely make the healing time brief. Glad that you will soon have some answers. You sound at peace Michele - I hope this is so

Just checking in to see how it went today. I'm happy to hear that Lacy was able to come home. Poor baby. I'm sure she'll be herself again in the next day or so. I bet Riley was happy to see her. Did he sniff her all over to see where she's been?

:cheer: Good to hear Lacy is home and doing well. You can try those doggie wipes to fix up her hair until she can have a bath, it would be better than nothing. Or you can save money and just use a moist warm washcloth :D

I'm glad Lacy is home with you and I will be praying that the biopsy results are something that can be easily taken care of. Maddie and Libby send Lacey get well wishes and lots of kisses. Hugs to you!

He was happy to see her...He was sniffing all over her but she just growls at him to get away LOL

Yeah, I had some bath wipes and used those..they are better than nothing and got some of the stickiness off. She's had some diarrhea too but hopefully her tummy will feel better tomorrow. I gave her some more pain meds and she's sleeping again

Lacy still isn't feeling too good. They said she ought to be pretty much back to normal today, but she's still not active at all. If she's not normal in the morning I'll have to take her back. She's been having some watery diarrhea since I brought her home, and it just kindof leaks out sometimes like she can't control it. She did eat some last night, but I had to hand feed her a little this morning. She won't drink much on her own so I've been syringe feeding her some water because I don't want her to get dehydrated. I gave her some more pain meds at noon today which I know makes her sleepy..but she still acts like she's in pain. She groans when I pick her up and doens't want to move around a whole lot. Usually with laproscopy they recover a lot quicker. I just feel back for her and hope she feels better soon.

Huh, laproscopy should've been easier on her but it was still abdominal surgery. The diarrhea is the only thing that I'd be overly concerned with just because of the dehydration risk. How about syringing PediaLyte?

What pain medication is she on?
If I remember right, you don't give grain but how about making her some chicken breast and sweet potato or something? Maybe the smell will entice her and it would be good moisture.

lol, I'm sure you know to check but are her gums pink?

She's on Buprenorphine...you can give it transmucosally every 8 hours. Her gums aren't really pink, but they aren't that pale either..just kindof in between I guess. Once when I checked her they were really pink, but it seems like her normal color is kindof a pale pink anyway.

I usually feed her raw, which has a lot of moisture in it. They just said not to feed her too much at first, and with her diarrhea i'm afraid to feed her too much. I was thinking about running to the store and getting some canned pumpkin to see if that helps and maybe fix her some cooked fish or an egg just to see if that's a little easier on her stomach right now.

Ellie was on that too. I wasn't wild able it. I could tells she was still in pain. Next time we're getting trying Tramadol.

I would try the cooked meat because I would think the smell would be stronger and maybe interest her. After Ellie's biopsy, she took food in the middle of the night and was back to wanting to eat the next day and I don't remember any diarrhea issues...just one dark bowel movement. Not sure if pumpkin has worked for you in the past but when I gave it to Ellie when she had soft stool, it had the effect that I didn't want it to have...softer stool.:rolleyes:

I've used pumpkin before and it did help but Lacy's not real crazy about it. I really haven't had to use it much. I PMed Wylie's Mom about a diet she got for Marcel that is good for upset tummies so I'll try that.

I think Lacy is starting to feel better and is perking up some. Anne (Wylie's Mom) sent me a recipe for upset tummies (I made tilapia, potato, pureed green beans, and some canned pumpkin) and she ate some of that. She wasn't sure about it at first but I think she decided she liked it and was hungry and kept eating. Then she drank some water on her own. And I took her outside and she wanted to walk around some. So hopefully she's getting back to normal now, and hopefully this food will help settle her stomach. I'll feed her this tomorrow and probably Friday and then back to the raw until we get her results back..and then we'll go from there

Always in my thoughts and prayers. Hope now that she's eaten a little more she will be back to her old self real soon. Waiting for the results to come back...I pray you get good results!

Glad to hear that she is eating some. Hopefully another good night's rest and she will be much closer to her normal self. Isn't it great to YT friends to turn to for recipes and advice. Reading your posts today, make me appreciate YT all the more.

Just wanted you to know you have been in my thoughts and prayers. I have been reading this thread all along and wanted to share that if you needed anything to let me know.

I actually had my phone programmed for the 25th for Lacys biopsy and see you had it done on the 24th. I am here tonight checking cause I thought today was the day.....

Please know I am praying and will continue to do so. I am looking for a good report in 3-5 days.

thanks everyone :) Lacy is doing MUCH better today, and is pretty much back to her normal self. She hasn't had any more diarrhea (or any poop) since yesterday afternoon, and I'm going to continue this homecooked diet through tomorrow just to be sure. She has eaten it well too.

I am so glad Lacy is feeling better! The recipe Wylie's Mom gave you is very liver friendly which may be why she is doing well on it. You might want to continue it until you get the results back.

GREAT news!!! I'm so happy to hear that she's eating :thumbup: I'm still praying for good results from the tests, too.

I just knew Riley would be all over her when she came home. They're so funny. Mine haven't been split up since Max was neutered 1 1/2 yrs ago - until this last weekend. Hubby took them one at a time to get their nails cut and when Mia came back Max had to sniff every inch of her!
