1 Attachment(s) Lacy has her liver biopsy at Texas A&M University tomorrow. I'm dropping her off before 8am and hopefully they'll be able to tell me about what time they'll be doing the biopsy then. We should get results back by the end of the week. I know I'm going to be nervous tomorrow with her going under, even though I know A&M has the best protocols with anaesthesia...I'll just be ready to pick her up and take her home. This was a picture taken of her Saturday at a meetup we went to |

She is going to be fine. Manolo just had his done by Dr Cole a professor from A&M that opened an Imaging Center in Las Colinas. He had his done right after his Imaging. No shunts here either but slight MVD. The Biopsy was no more than a few minutes and he was up within 15. Good Luck to you I will say a prayer right now for you guys. I know how stressed you may be right now because I was but it will be OK...I m glad we did this....Lissette |
Michelle, I just found this thread. I pray all goes well with the testing tomorrow and that you get some answers. |
OMG - How did I miss this all month long? Michele - I am so upset reading this. You take such good care of Lacy and Riley - I can't believe this is happening. I know you know what you're doing and won't stop until you have it taken care of but I hope you know how many of us are here rooting for Lacy, you and Riley. Lacy will be at the top of my prayer list. :hands::hands::hands::hands::hands: Lots of hugs to you! :big_hug: |
Lacy you are in my prayers. And Mom  be strong, she will be in good hands and will be just fine. |
Just wanted to send prayers and warm wishes to you and Lacy. I know how worried you must be. Hoping you get some answers too.:big_hug: |
My thoughts and prayers, go out to Lacy. I'm confident all will be well...she's in good hands. Please, take care of yourself as well Michele. |
I was doing a search online and came across this 36 minute teaching video made by Dr. Willard, the Internal Medicine specialist who will be doing Lacy's biopsy tomorrow. It shows from start to finish what all they do when taking a liver biopsy using laproscopy. I just thought I'd post it in case anyone was interested in seeing...pretty informative if you ever have a dog having this done. Small Animal Laparoscopic Liver Biopsy Video – 5min.com |

Thinking about you guys...It will be ok.... |
Just talked with Michele through text, they are finishin up now, she has been talking to the 4th year vet student. She will be ablle to talk to the clinicians at 5pm. I'm sure she will post soon. |
I just saw this and will say a prayer for darling little Lacey! |
Lacy is awake and I can go pick her up and bring her home at 6:00. So I just wanted to write a quick update before I leave to go get her. They said the procedure went well..her blood pressure dropped under anaesthesia but they corrected that and she did well after that. I think they had to shave both of her front legs so they could monitor her blood pressure. They took 5 biopsies (3 for histopathy, 1 for culture, and 1 to check copper if needed). They also got a small sample of bile and took a sample of her feces (apparently there is some newly discovered parasite in Texas that is causing some liver disease in dogs..but it doesn't seem likely for her since dogs get it from ponds that have certain kinds of snails in it). They said a lot of her liver was paler in color than a normal liver, although she did have some normal spots too...and she said there was fibrosis (scarring). Other than that..we won't know anything until we get biopsy results back, which will be 3-5 days. |

Wow, five biopsies! That's good that they took enough to come to a conclusion. Ellie's vet said her liver might look a bit pale, so welcome to the blub Lacy. :) |
Im so glad everything went well. See, you guys are in good hands. Did they tell you how long before she will recover from the surgery. Hope you get great results. Peace.. |
