Ahhh....I am so sorry... I don't know much about the disease, but if you go up to the blue tool bar, you'll see a seach button. I suggest searching for the full name of GME, as I know I have seen threads in past regarding it (I just don't recall how to spell it out )

GME is a devastating illnesses. I am so sorry your girl has been diagnosed with it. There is quite a bit of information about GME on the Yorkie Angel Patrol website: gme GME is thought to be genetic so make sure you tell your breeder about her diagnosis.

GME Site I am so sorry your fur baby has been diagnosed with this but there is hope. My Yorkie has a form of GME called Necrotizing Encephalitis and she was diagnosed in September. The vet originally thought she would live a week or two. If you read up on this disease most articles will say there isn't a lot of hope. Don't believe that. My Gidget is on a treatment plan and doing very well. When she was diagnosed she was totally blind and could barely walk. She know has regained most of her eye sight back and walks normal. She will be on the treatment plan for about a year to year and a half and her prognosis is very hopeful. Here is the link to the group: NewGMEDogs : NewGMEDogs Here is the link to the doctor in Boston: MSPCA-Angell: Please take a look. There is much information and a doctor in Boston who has a 90% success rate in putting this deadly disease into remission. The Doctor in Boston uses a more aggressive treatment than most vets and neurologists. He will consult for a small fee with your regular vet or neurologist. I live in KC and my Neurologist consulted with this doctor to put Gidget on a treatment plan that to date has been very successful. I hope you will take a look. Feel free to email me directly with any questions. This Yorkie Forum and the yahoo site have helped me deal with this horrible disease and find the best treatments for my Gidget. Lee Ann

princess Emillie Hi all, Just to let you know that I have been to see Emillie today and she has much improved. Emillie will be having more chemo tonight but may be well enough to come home on Monday... Things had been looking bleak this week, mostly the fact there was no change she could not walk and had lost her sparkle, the neurologist decided that the only thing left was to do chemo a week earlier than planned and cross our fingers that this would control this aggressive GME!!! Well it seems that it may well have done the trick today Emillie can stand unaided but still can't walk so we are hoping that tomorrow she may very well make a few steps.... I could only wish that no other dog or owner should ever go through this but I feel with education and research we may all be saved the heartache... Thank you for all your kind wishes and advice it has truly helped me cope with the situation and when I thought there was no hope you offered support and encouragement. For now I don't know what the future holds but the hope of having Emillie home is enough for now Maxine (Emillies mum) xxx

Princess Emillie Hi All, I thought I would give you an update! Emillie came home today and I can't tell you how delighted I am. Emillie is still sick and has lots of medication too, she is still unable to walk but can stand for short periods. The neurologist has said to see how she goes and would hope to see improvement by friday, either way she wants me to ring and then we can discuss any further action. I am hoping and praying that Emillie will get stronger by the day and come friday I can share the good news with the neurologist. Thank you all for your kind words and support they are much appreciated Maxine and Princess Em xx
