UTI infection/bladder issues caused by whelping My Yorkie mom was about 50 days in whelp when she started having a hard time going pee. The vet said she had an infection and gave her a round of antibiotics. She got a little better but then had her puppy. Her symptoms increased so he put her on antibiotics that would not hurt the puppy while being nursed. She initially got better then frequent urinating again. She is now on her 3rd round of antibiotic and she poops out a small bit when she pees. She does have quite a bit of liquid when she pees. It seems like having a puppy put such a strain on her. I cant have her fixed until she is over this infection and weans the pup. Has anyone ever had this much difficulty with bladder problems due to whelping?

Also I have heard over and over that apple cider vinegar can cure the UTI. Just 1/2 teaspoon in 1 cup of water. They say it will stop it from coming back if you keep giving it a couple of times a week. It can't hurt. Also what are you feeding?

I am feeding my dog life abundance. I have had to give her salmon and tuna to wrap her antibiotic pill up in. I dont know what kind of probiotic but have vanilla activia here. Can you suggest anything. I will also try the cider vineger too. I appreciate all the suggestions as this is never ending.

I found probiotics at petsmart and will go out today to purchase some. I added the vinegar to the water too. She also seems to have a constipation problem too so I am hoping the probiotics help with that. Thanks I will keep you updated.

100% pure canned pumpkin can help the constipation. Lifes abundance does have some probiotics in it but there are better foods out there for the same price or even less. Dog Food Reviews - Main Index - Powered by ReviewPost Is a good site for reading up on food in case you are interested

changing food I am going to change her food but have a month supply to finish first. I will transfer to a taste of the wild which is good. I did get samples before all this mess started. In the meantime I will get the tablets of probiotics. Thanks.

you need to use organic canned pumpkin for constipation as probiotics will not help with that -- the probiotics i use are dds plus and it is in refridgerator at whole foods as refridgerated is best kind -- i am not too keen on acv as it is very acidic and dogs already have a very acidic environment in their body. Also it is sugar as it is from apples and sugar harbors bacteria and keeps it alive good and bad

I will go out to get the organic canned pumpkin tomorrow. I will look for the probiotics you suggested too. So far she really doesnt like the vinegar water but had just a bit. At least now when she pees it is quite a bit more so things are getting better. It is just when she pees a pebble of poop comes out most times. I hope the pumpkin will help it be not so hard therefore it will not be coming at all day rather only 1 or 2 times. Thanks.

| Since this hasn't gone away nearly fast enough, has the vet suggested an xray to look for stones or possibly an ultrasound to look for stones that can't be seen on xray?

kidney stones I took Nikki in as the bleeding continued and the straining when she went to go the bathroom. Turns out she needed an operation for kidney stones. She was able to get the operation and come back to her puppy at the end of the day. What a mom! She is doing well this morning. This was the first night she didnt have to go outside every 4 hours so I feel rested as she must! We will find out what caused the kidney stones as soon as we get the report back. She has no history and is only 3 years old. I did have her fixed while she was under. She had her one pup and that is enough. Thanks for all your help gals.
