Gosh, I JUST FOUND this thread! So sorry for all you and Jack have been going through. But it looks like a happy ending. That's the advantage to finding these threads late--no anxiety.

After the perfect poop last night, Jack had an accident in the house today that left me a little concerned. He could have easily barked to go outside because I was standing right next to him, but he just went where he was standing. I'm hoping it was influenced by the meds and not an incontinence problem.

Other than that, his spirits are tremendous. He continues to act like nothing ever happened. He snuggled with me all night.

I got down on my hands and knees searching for the poop to check its consistency and make sure there was no blood. I won't go into too much detail because, frankly, I've already overshared. But let's just say I followed the scent to a well-shaped and firm, uh, poo.

So, in a strange way, thank you DeLisa. Your sarcasm left Jack with the same feeling that it usually leaves me on the banning thread: Feeling like I have to go poo. :P

Oh Mike. I think what really happened is that Jack read that post, realized what you expecting of his poor, sweet Grandma and decided to let one far more deserving take the honors!! I am glad to hear that, as my Grandapa used to love to loudly announce in restaurants or any other public areas, everything came out all right!

Um, Mike, I don't mean to rub it in, but down here in the lower 48 we have these really cool gadgets so that you don't have to crawl around looking for puppy poo in the middle of the night. I didn't realize these hadn't made it to AK yet. PM me with a mailing address and I will send you a flashlight of your very own. Cool little things - my favorites are battery operated. You hold them in your hand, turn them on, and they emit a beam of light. Since you are holding it, you can direct the beam whereever you would like. You can actually search for poo AT NIGHT without having to crawl around and follow your nose! :

I'm sorry that Jack had an issue today. Is incontinance one of the normal hazards of hernia surgery?

LOL, touche. I'll give that one to you. FYI, we don't NEED those gadgets in the summertime because it never gets dark. It just takes a while during these between seasons for me to dust them off and buy new batteries.

As for incontinence, it would be one of the feared side effects. I think he's going to be OK. He hasn't had any more accidents, anyway. No successes that I've seen, but no accidents.
