When i was talking to the vet tech on the phone she was wondering if it could indicate liver, but she looked at her paper work and said all her liver enzymes came back normal, although i know that is not a sure wya to tell, however, i'd imagine they would be elevated a bit if it was the liver... should all of this come back normal... we'll be doing a BAT. I had planned to do one this week just because it was soemthing i though wouldn't hurt (this was before her test results came back high) and then put it off until we knew what was going on... Layla also can't have turkey... ![]() Also, if it was her liver, wouldn't she be puking after her meals? Layla's diet is 90% protein, and she has never thrown up after eating, so i've never been worried abotu her liver.. but again. i'll be doing the BAT eventually. She is only eating treats right now that have extremely low fat- i got some at a local store that are made from sweet potato and carrot- and they have no fat ![]() | |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | ![]() Marci, I'm just seeing this. I'm sorry the test results showed that. I don't know much about all this, but I'm sure you'll make sure she gets better soon. You're an awesome yorkie mom!!!! I'll be praying for Layla and you! Hugs! |

Aren't eggs high in fat compared to other protein? There is about 2.5 grams of fat per ounce and if my math is correct, chicken contains about .88 grams per ounce. I used to give Ellie egg all the time but really am trying not to anymore because of this. I haven't been able to talk to her nutritionist about it yet... Please check my math on this...I could be wrong. I would not count on the liver enzymes being elevated if it is the liver but you have been feeding a lot of protein and I'd think she would've started showing symptoms if the liver was an issue. Then again, we can't be sure. Not all dogs with liver disease will throw up after eating. What is the vet thinking it could be if it isn't pancreatitis?

| ![]() How about beans/legumes for protein while you're waiting? I know they still have some fat-not sure how much. Just an idea!

| ![]() The condition is called hyperlipidaemia. It is hereditary in miniature Schnauzers. Here is a great article: Hyperlipidaemia - WSAVA 2003 Congress |

| ![]() My dd has never vomitted, had head pressing, seizures or any of that and she had high post biles so she is on a low protein diet. It is something to be aware of for sure in a yorkie or maltese breed -- |

| ![]() Please read up on feeding ONLY egg whites, as I do not think that is good to do (can't remember why though...) Roxy has really no apparent symtoms of liver issues - ALL tests done were normal EXCEPT her BATs are very high ![]() ...hoping for the BEST possible outcome. How about Cottage Cheese - Friendship makes a Low Sodium flavor ![]() |
