My dee dee has high lipase on all her tests so that is why i think you need to do the pre and post bile acids. Amylase and lipase both being high is supposedly tied to pancreas but like i said before not really a concern for most -- lipase alone high then i would be checking the liver.
Let us know how it all comes back but I think it is because yorkie breed tends to have more fat in their blood as both my yorkies tend to be high on that and my maltese is not.
Trust me you know when they have pancreatitis as they do not stop vomitting
I still do not like the beef -- how about xtra lean ground turkey ask vet as beef is too high in fat for a dog they may think has a mild underlying pancreas situation.
No treats just stick to basics as pancreatitis is very costly and yorkies are prone and after spending 10k I would not take any chances again with a yorkie |
you have been so helpful thank you!
When i was talking to the vet tech on the phone she was wondering if it could indicate liver, but she looked at her paper work and said all her liver enzymes came back normal, although i know that is not a sure wya to tell, however, i'd imagine they would be elevated a bit if it was the liver... should all of this come back normal... we'll be doing a BAT. I had planned to do one this week just because it was soemthing i though wouldn't hurt (this was before her test results came back high) and then put it off until we knew what was going on...
Layla also can't have turkey...

allergic to that aswell. Right now she is eating oatmeal, scrambled egg and yogurt. And then beef and veggies for supper.
Also, if it was her liver, wouldn't she be puking after her meals? Layla's diet is 90% protein, and she has never thrown up after eating, so i've never been worried abotu her liver.. but again. i'll be doing the BAT eventually.
She is only eating treats right now that have extremely low fat- i got some at a local store that are made from sweet potato and carrot- and they have no fat
