| Ear Infection? Tila's been scratching at her ear, just the one ear. I checked tonight and it looks clean, but it's pink. I know it's bothering her, but how do I know if it's an ear infection or something else? Do I need to clean it, or should I take her in to get it checked? |

| If it is really bothering her, I'd take her to the vet. It is probably something really simple like a yeast infection or mites if she is young. Does it have an odor? You can ask the vet to show you how to clean them because different vets want their clients to use different methods.

| Lowie had a problem with her ear as well and i took her to the vet and they gave her some meds (drops) for it. The stuff you buy in petco/pet stores only cleans the ear not get rid of any bacteria. ps: scratching ear could also be allergic to something as well. |

is her ear warm to the touch!? there are usually 2 types of infections that can go on : 1.) Yeast- Which is usually a white looking discharge, and just smells well, yeasty. 2.) Bacteria- Which will usually be a dark debris looking color, and it could also be a means for ear mites (usually in puppies, or little older) Yorkies may also have extra hair in their ear canal, which the groomer will usually pluck out- so if they have a ton of that hair, i would pluck, pluck pluck! good luck!
