| Spots/Sores My Walter is 3yrs old & for the last few months he has had reapearing spots or sores. They only appear on his naked parts, underneath between his back legs. They don't seem to bother him at all, no licking or scratching. Nothing had changed in his diet or grooming supplies.Of course they disappear at vet time. Only change was were I walked him(high dog traffic area). A good Neems bath & some hydrocortisone cream help. : |

| I'm interested to see what response you get, because I was just going to post a similar thread! A few months ago Layla had almost a rash on her tummy, with peeling skin. The vet gave meds for a bacterial infection. Now it seems to still be dark and spotty, with a few little spots so dark they almost look like scabs. And like you, it's just on her tummy where she has no hair. Bumping this up... I hope someone answers soon!

| Exactly! When the sores heal at 1st there is a little peely skin then when gone leaves a faint black mark for quite awhile. I was wondering about some kind of skin infection he may have picked up, actually staph? We are on vacation in Wa state right now but he started this back in Honolulu. |

| It could be yeast. Mimi had the same thing going on and because she has severe allergies she got yeast. Need to see a vet for treatment. |

| Ok, as usual the Vet wait is near 1week for non emergency & as usual they will more than likely be gone by then but reappeer the next day. I want the sores to be active when the Dr. sees them so maybe he can culture them. |

| ThankYou! PS I had him at Dr.'s last week but since they were not bad then she couldnt tell anything. Today I put up his old puppy yard on the porch to eliminated contact with grass ect & see if it helps. Poor guy he loves to run & play in the grass but now has to hang out on wood. |

| I don't know anything, but Zowie gets a sort of rash down her backbone. It is so mild, but I brush away scabby things, and bathe her, then I spray on some very mild (neutrogena-t-gel) stay in overnight treatment for dandruff. That clears it right up. If I spray her every week, it stays gone. But I usually forget after a couple of weeks.

| Sabrina (12 now) has a brownish rash on her tummy from waist down when she eats chicken based dog food. The vet (who bred Yorkies for many years) said that a chicken allergy was not uncommon in Yorkies, and just change her food to something with no chicken in it. I did - no problem since. You may want to just try eleminating that for a week and see what happens. Mine can eat beef, lamb, rice, turkey (weird huh?) but no chicken. She even loves fish and ham. Good luck and let us know what works.

| Hi, Tiger our 3 1/2 year old boy, also has a similar condition. It only started to happen this past summer, and only thing that changed in terms of his routine, is the fact we moved. There is defeinelty more dogs and residue around our new location (unfortunately). So wonder if its that. Its really like reddish \ brown scabs scars mostly on his belly with a few on his lower back. These essential dry out and fall out of his back... Was wondering if you can take a picture for me? Will try to do same. I am waiting one more week and going to the vet, although am not to big on this Antibiotics concept. |

| OMG I've been battling this same rash... Its on her belly, first its starts out round and red then turns brown and scabby, and when its heals it flakes off... She doesn't seem to be in any discomfort. When the scab turns brown it looks almost like a burn.. It goes away and then it comes back.. Please, when anyone finds out what this is ... please, please.. let me know.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I would have the vet do a skin scraping, did they do that already?

| Go online and read about skin infections, staph infections - which are very common, it's bacteria that sits on the skin, they have allergies that make the itch and scratch, then the skin is open and the bacteria that sits on the skin can enter and cause the sores. This can also be a combo of staph and yeast too! |

| do any of you use frontline? i used this on zac for a couple of years and he was fine then all of a sudden he had a reaction to it and had spots on his belly that then turned to blisters. its not just frontline that can do this its all the spot ons. zacs reaction was even worse than just the lumps he also started seeing things. flea treatment has side effects some dogs have died from it, google it and you will see. the next time i used frontline on my other 3 but not on zac but zac still started acting funny so ive now gone to advantage which i put on the other 3 and zac seems fine, i think it works differently to frontline, frontline goes in to the fat layer but advantage just stays on the skin.

| Tiger gets the scabs which are dark, and I am yet to see him scratch it or bite it. It practically doesn't bother him at all. He had those before I used frontline, he was off of it since January, but went back on it recently as I noticed few fleas. The spots were not flea bites nor a alergic reaction to frontline. I did tons of reasearch on the web, and steph infection looks a little different. His spots dont get so read like the ones in steph infection pics Ive seen. He basicaly has scabs as dark as a human would have after a healing cut or wound. I started to clean his belly daily with a hypoallergenic oatmeal wipes I got at pet store, they seem to slowly (very slowly) do its magic. Additioanly I have started to take different precautions at home. No table food, cleaning floor with just water instead of soap etc.. tyring to elimnate what the allergy maybe. My gf said its from his treats, but doubt Milkbone treats are it. He has been eating those from day one. |
