i'm very glad to hear that your little baby is doing better! what a scare that is... as i read your posts i am literally in tears myself. i couldn't imagine that happening. but thank you for sharing because now i WILL create an emergency plan for jasper.

continue to get better koda and again thank you for sharing.

And I'm not at all happy to see you live in OHIO and YOU have spiders like that.

Did the vet say this could be fatal? That is too scary.. but I'm thinking it could be for a little dog.

Wow, how scary!! We do not have black widows but I will be searching for info on the spiders we do have.
At one time about 2 days after Buddy had his vaccinations he had one side of his face swell up and the vet had me give him some benedryl and it was fine. They suspected it might be a spider or some other insect bite because it was so long after the vaccination, but who knows. That was the time they gave him Lepto in his shot

so I have a tendancy to blame that.

I am soooo Happy to hear that Koda is doing better!!....Please keep us posted!...I am so concerened about all the post we get about the yorkies that seem to have the same symptoms...what is going on?!!

Omg Erin, I am just seeing this now..A black widow spider... I went to bed a little before you posted as I am usually up pretty late...

I was so scared for you reading this symptoms and looking at poor koda in those pictures..I was so glad you took him to the vet..

And I cannot believe it was a spider bite.. I cannot even imagine how you were trembling with fear for your baby.. I could fee the sheer panic in you posts..

I am so glad the toxic that was harming him and discovered.. my heart broke on the part of you crying after leaving him..

Are black widow spiders common in your area.. for this is one spider you will never get over too fast...yikes

Oh my goodness your last post made my bawl!! I can't even imagine feeling that helpless, but you and your vet did a fantastic job. Way to take care of your baby!!!!!!

I'm SOOOOOOOOOOO glad Koda is okay, I was so worried about him! I bet you can't wait to get him back home. So glad he's feeling better.

A spider!!! uuuurrrrggghhhhh!

I hate them so much! we don't get poisonous ones here..thank goodness!
Bless your heart..you have been through such an ordeal! thank goodness it all turned out well and your baby will soon be home safe with you...BIG HUGS!!

Just now checking this link!! I'm sorry you've been through hell and back with Koda! I'm so glad you were able to take him in!! Please keep us updated, you have us all worried and feel free to share anything, don't feel bad about it!!
Hope he gets all better soon and you hunt that spider down!! I hate spiders too!!

Did the vet give him an antidote? We have black widows but we really have a brown recluse which is really nasty...What did the vet do? I likely need emergency knowledge. I know toads can kill one after an emergency run to the vet and a very sick dog. I try to train for them not to lick or eat anything I don't give them. We have lots of acorns and they are toxic too. I am just thrilled Koda will survive. It didn't help not having transportation. Sure a scary time for you.
