| toothache.... Kirby has been pacing and sqeals out of the blue once in a while. yesterday He wouldnt take water or any treats. Today he took a treat and nibbled very gently. He wont let me check his mouth which is not normal for him. So I think tooth ache. Does that mean they have to take a tooth out or put him out and do a dental procedure?? I have to get him to DR soon.I am calling as soon as they open....I dont know what to expect for Kirby.

| Poor Kirby. A toothache really is painfull. There are several steps you can do to hopefully prevent this in the furture. If he won't let you brush his teeth try Petzlife gel. You can apply it to his teeth with your finger. THey even have oral dental care in a liquid form which can be added to their water. I bought this at Petco. I hope his pain goes away after seeing the vet. But preventive care is the way to go. Good luck, |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Poor baby. There are 2 eye teeth I think that can abscess and cause a lot of pain and even break through the skin under the eyes if it gets infected enough. So it's good you are getting him in today. Pixie recently had dental and 5 teeth pulled, she's ony 2 1/2 but had terrible gum disease and loose teeth. She went in in the morning and they put her under andcleaned her teeth and pulled 5 teeth. She came home that evening and was fine. Now I am religious about cleaning all of their teeth, Good luck

| This past march when kirby was 11 mos, He got part of a brittle chew chip wedged into the lining of his esophagus. HE became extremely ill . IT became inflamed and infected even before the two our surgery it took to get it out. HE was hospitalized at the university Hosp for4 days. HE took special meds to help heal the opening and prevent full preforation. He now has scar tissue along his esophagus. He is under 4 pounds. He has a sensitive gag reflex now also.

Oh poor baby. These guys really need to chew. I would get a natural bone, one to fit his mouth so he can chew not only for dental purposes but for the mere enjoyment of chewing. You can find these natural bones at a pet store. Most are large but I have found some small. That's all Buddy is allowed to chew on. He also was hospitalized from a Nylabone for four days. THey have a hole running the lengh of the bone and you can put peanut butter, cheese, yogart or other in it for his enjoyment. Hope all works out for him.

It stays solid. It's very thick. Bud has put dents into them but there is no way they can splinter. I even put them in the dishwasher from time to time. He's had his for over two years now and that is all he's chews. He's a big chewer still. I don't know what I would have done had I not found this natural bone. Nothing to worry about. Just get the right size so it fit's into his mouth.

| opdate on Kirby The vet found that a baby tooth was left in when he took them out. The adult tooth and the baby tooth are now in the "same" spot and inflamed. He put him on antibiotic and will extract it on Wednesday.
