| Update, she is still vomiting. About 4 times total now but she is eating and drinking. Should we with hold food and water? She is 2lbs 10oz when I weighed her yesterday.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Did she start a new food, get into something, eat part of a toy, eat human food, a treat - anything like that? How old is she? Are her gums white or are they pink? Don't withhold water, but I wouldn't let her drink a whole bunch right away. You could also give a 1/2 tsp. of Pepto. And give a saltine cracker to settle some juices.

| Thank you, she is 8 weeks old. As far as we know she didn't eat anything other then her food. She has only been home for a few days and she is transitioning her food from the breeder to what my sister is feeding her. It is still being mixed as well. We will give her some pepto! and let her have water. I just gave her some nutrical and she vomited again though so i'm worried the pepto might make her vomit.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Being she is so young I would take her in to the vet. Cali was vomiting today and I took her in and they said there are a lot of bugs going around Hope she is better soon.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | At that age, I'd probably take her to the vet. As a general rule, I would never transition a new puppy's food for at least 2 weeks - to make sure they are settled and healthy. Puppies go through such stress entering a new home - that introducing a new food can really be dangerous for them (in my opinion). The system most affected by stress is the digestive system, really. This is a *very* young, vulnerable puppy.

| Thank you! I'll pass the info on to my sister and let you all know. Right now the pup is sleeping and kept the pepto down so hopefully she is done with it. I'll let her know if she vomits again to call the vet. *she just vomited again, she is calling the vet now

| I'm so glad she's contacting the vet. The puppy is extremely young, and at that age, they can go downhill very quickly. I'll be watching this thread for an update. My prayers are with you. |

| I went with her to the emergency vet, they ruled out parvo but really don't know whats up with her. There is no way that she ate anything she shouldn't so my sister opted out of x-rays for that. The vet said that the pepto would usually make a dog vomit more so we are hoping thats why she continued to vomit. She is home now, and being watched very closely. The vet gave her some fluids and she hasn't thrown up in a while so hopefully whatever it was is passed. I'll update in the morning as to how she is doing.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Glad she is doing better. Giving a dog Pepto will not make it throw up more, that is hogwash - pepto is Bismuth - your vet may want to look up what exactly that chemical is for.

| It wasn't out vet, it was an emergency clinic. Thank you for clearing that up for me

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It just frustrates me when a vet, who is probably irritated that someone obtained some info on-line - gives out incorrect information out of spite, rather than just being factual. Giving an anti-nausea agent does not make a dog vomit more; the dog will vomit more if it was going to vomit more *already*. The Use of Bismuth Subsalicylate (Pepto Bismol) in Pets Bismuth Subsalicylate (Pepto-Bismol®, Kaopectate®) Dog Diarrhea Pepto Bismol and other Treatments Without a Prescription And this is interesting - as it's the Home Emergency Kit given to Police Dog Handlers. What's interesting is that it recommends Pepto Tablets - which actually isn't good bc whole tablets often won't dissolve (as seen HERE) - so, you'd think they'd be more firm about recommending liquid . Either way - that whole list is pretty interesting.

| I was just checking in for an update. I'm glad that for now, the little one has settled a little. Whoever that was at the emergency clinic who told you that Pepto would cause vomiting, needs to check their facts. As a matter of fact, my vet recommends Pepto for vomiting. |

| She is doing GREAT today. Seems she is all better, must have just been an upset belly. On a side note, my Boston terrier threw up a few times last night while I was gone and they had been around each other.
