Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | ![]() Oh Brooke, i'm so sorry to hear that Stedman may have a bladder stone blocking his urethra. At least now you know the urinating and defecating problems weren't linked. He just happened to eat something at the same time a stone decided to show up. Has he been able to urinate easily since you've been home with him? if he still has a hard time urinating by friday, i'd bring him back in. You don't want something to happen over the weekend and not have your regular vet available. He might possibly need to go to surgery. A Cystotomy will be performed, which means they will have to make an incision on the abdomen to get to the bladder. IF the stone is stuck in the urethra, a catheter is passed through the penis and saline is flushed through to try and push the stone back into the bladder. The stones will then be taken out and he'll be stitched back up. another x-ray will be taken to ensure he got all the stones. make sure the vet sends the stones out to be analyzed so you will know what kind of stones they are. i'm so sorry brooke. I know your very upset. I can sit back from the outside and tell you that the surgery isn't as big a deal as it might seem, but its not my baby that's going into surgery. i can just see it from the operating room. Many dogs and cats have to have this surgery unfortunately, and its probably diet related. If your not comfortable with your regular vet doing the surgery you should ask him to refer you to a board certified surgeon.

| ![]() Oh gosh - poor Steddy and poor you!!!!! I'm going to hope he did eat something at your mom's and that was the problem with the bowels. Since he did have a UTI - I'm going to also pray that the spot is nothing and the meds will clear him up). Please give Steddy tons of hugs from me and the girls and get yourself some rest. And Tate - it's not good to show your brother things that can get him into trouble. Be a good little girl for your mommy!!!!!! Hugs to you all!!!

| ![]() Thank goodness for the update! You never know sometimes what they might eat that could cause a blockage. Wrigley had this happen to her when she was a puppy and I know how frightening it is! Hopefully with what the vet did and the medicine that is all cleared up and I will pray that he will pass the stone on his own, poor guy! You are in our thoughts! Take care little Stedman!!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thank you so much for the information on how the surgery is performed. I will make 100% SURE that if he does end up needing surgery, that the stone(s) are analyzed and tested. I mean I DON'T want him to have to have surgery but if he does I just hope that a stone or sones is what it is and not anything more serious, you know? ![]() When you say that dogs and cats who have this is probably diet related, what exactly does that mean? Sorry I am so dumb ![]()

| ![]() So glad your stud muffin is doing better. Laxatone is what I give my cats to keep them regular and prevent/eliminate hair balls. I'm glad your vet will keep a close eye. Poor little baby!

| ![]() Awwwwwwwwwww Brooke! I am so glad you are home and have some answers. If it is a stone see if the doc can send it to a lab to have it analyzed so maybe he can take medication or change his diet to prevent another one! Get some sleep. YOU must be exhausted! I hope this has a happy ending..........real soon! Hugs! Lisa |
