| I Need Help..please..myleigh Is Not Right Again.. One day I may get to post in another section, but for now here we go again…I am a people nurse and no better then to self diagnosis BUT now a days with a computer it’s so hard not to. Not even 3 days ago I frantically started a post on Myleigh who is 5 months old. She is yorkie number 2 for us. She has a big brother, Tyson, who is a little over a year and a half and the poster child for the healthiest, most well behaved yorkie. Myleigh comes from the same set of parents and she get the award for the poor baby award. Since the day we picked her up she has had worms, Cocydia but just as play full and full of love as she can be. Took her to the vet Thursday because she was drinking water, pee, water, pee. She was laying as stretched out as far as she could but she was eating, drinking and being Myleigh but you could tell she could not get comfortable. All nite she was up, down, here, there, it was so sad. My fiance took her to the vet and the UA came back clean as a whistle……and we were good UNTIL last night. She went in are ed and laid down..not normal for her. I noticed she is drinking normal, she has not been drinking anymore water then usual and bathroom habits have been normal but all nite she was here, there, and everywhere. I told my fiance something is not right, you can just tell she seems like she cant get comfortable , so onto the PC I go. I really feel like we may be dealing with what seem like signs of a liver shunt and I hope with everything I have I am so wrong…about an hour ago she threw up. Not a whole lot but…it confirmed what I thought, something is not right. My question is, what can I do right now to help settle her belly..? I really feel she needs the bile acid test I have been reading about. IS this something I should take her into the ER for..? Is there anything I can do..?? Change somethings around food..?? She does not get tale food, but she does get treats and I will cut those ASAP…I am a mess and it is so sad to see her just keep getting up and down..If I did take her to the ER vet what changes would I make if they did tell me she possibly had this. If she needs to go then away we will go……..any help please….I am so sick of seeing her look uncomfortable. Can she have Pepcid?? Should I hold her food for awhile?? Give her different food???..help……this is so sad and so much for her to deal with…thanks |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | IF you think something is wrong chances are there is - I'd take her back to the vet or try a new vet. She started out with a host of problems and that's such a shame (the breeder should be told about this and re-think how they are selling puppies) I wish you all the best with her... poor baby !! I hope you can find out whats wrong |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Poor baby. Maybe she is just restless due ot her tummy being upset. Is she still on any meds that would upset her tummy? Maybe another stool sample will show if everything is cleared up. I know how you feel, my Cali was sick every other week the first 6 months I had her. Bile acid testing is always a good idea even if just to rule it out and have peace of mind. The test will be almost double at the er vet, that's where Cali had her 2. Hopefull she will feel better soon.

| She did have a clean test for worms at the vet, sorry, I forgot to put that. The vet did put her on a antibiotic for her possible urinary infection. I didn’t start them until I waited to hear if there was a problem and she her UA came back perfect. I hope its just a belly ache and maybe if I stay off the liver shunt websites it can be just a bell ache. Is there anything to give her,,? I have read canned pumpkin could help..? Pepcid AC? Anybody have luck with those..? I guess I’m just looking for the magic answer we all do when are babies are sick and I know there’s not one….As of now she is laying down and not as up and down as she had been. I guess I will see if thee are any more suggestions and try and get canned pumpkin if that is indeed something I should try….maybe give her half of today to come around..? I would prefer to take her to the vet when it is the normal expensive ill instead of the double over price bill from the ER vet………if I could change places with her I would in a minute. I just looked over at her and wiped her eye and she let out the most pitiful little noise………..I just want her to be ok |

| a lot of times when they are up and down like that it is because they have a tummy ache. Maybe gas.. They don't know how to show the pain and the up ands down restlessness is thier way of showing it. I would take her back in to the vet. Try the canned pumpkin today and I hope it will help. It does not sound like a liver shunt from those symptoms. But it does sound like a tummy upset.

| I am no expert but Bleu was in ICU this time last month and they had him on all meds and said we may never see the trip home with him... I took him off all meds and WHAMO he is the perfect dog. I think vaccines and meds are making our babies sick.... I know you want to know what is wrong and we trust our vets and universities and medstudents and we do what they tell us cause we want the best for our babies but in the end nothing is accomplished sometimes. I took BLEUS life in my own hands after every vet told me he would have died could have died was going to die or WOULD NOT MAKE A TRIP HOME. I wish I was with your little one in person but EVERY PROFESSIONAL other than BLEUS surgeon and she can not treat him EVERYTIME every one of them were dead wrong! You know your baby more than anyone else Watch for her signs and watch what you put in her system Give her extra TLC and sometimes TIME ( IN OUR CASE AND NO MEDS) and update us and let us know how she is.... Im praying for you ITS HEARTBREAKING when you do not know what in the world is wrong and you trust someone for answers! IM SORRY HUGS VICKI

| we have given pepcid a/c for upset tummy/vomiting and it has worked great! However my girl is 12 lbs and we were told to give 1/4 of a pepcid. Your dog is only 5 mos and not sure what the weight is so I don't know about that. Pepcid calms the stomach though. You may want to consult with your emergency vet. sometimes they are willing to give you some info over the phone w/o coming in until you can get to your reg vet. with it being a holiday w/end more than likely your reg vet is closed until tues. how much does your dog weigh? also how is the stool? |

| Let me first just say thank you to everyone that takes 5-10 minutes out of their day to make the rest of my day a little more positive. I’ll be the first to admit I do a lot more asking then answering on here. Hopefully as my pups grow my Yorkie knowledge will grow. I started writing this at about 2PM on Sunday and it is now 15 after midnight heading into Monday. As I started writing this 10 hours ago Myleigh was still bouncing from couch to bed to floor to her bed her home, which is her crate and would ultimately end up next to me. She finally laid down for 15 min at a time and any noise she heard she was up on all fours looking around and back to the floor, her bed, the couch……just about the that time my fiancé ,who went in to lay down with Tyson, yells to me Tyson’s throwing up…..HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND…so now I have both babies sick as can be. So we called his mom to let her know we would not be over and brought out the blankets and pillows, picked up their food gave them fresh water and my fiance ad I slept in shifts so we could take care of them. Tyson settles down around 3pm and I don’t know if Myleigh finally started feeling a little bit better and was able to fall asleep or she passed out because she has not slept in 48 hours. Regardless, by 3PM Tyson, Myleigh, and TJ/my fiance were sound asleep and the babies slept until almost midnight and woke up STARVING..!! Myleigh and Tyson started with their demands. I knew they wanted a treat but I stayed strong gave them their dry food and they let me know what they thought about it, they sometimes get to split a can of Cesar but I only wanted them to have dry food for now. Myleigh ate half of her dry food, I did have to put a few tiny pieces of cheese in her bowl to get her going and Tyson ate a bite or 2. He has always been a picky eater, he has gone 1-2 days without eating before. It’s been 2 hours since they ate and everything has stayed down, Tyson just went for a ride to the store with daddy and Myleigh is laying down and looks comfortable. UPDATE 3:15AM……..Myleigh and Tyson are running around here chasing each other and shaking their babies…. I cant thank everyone enough for the re assurance I get from your comments. I just don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have this board to come to. I have learned more and have been given more correct information from this board then any vet I’ve ever visited…. THANK YOU |
