| Poop Questions I'm wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this? Piper has a normal poop and than a really gross one (mucus or pink tinged and runny). This doesn't happen everyday and she isn't getting anything to eat except her regular dog food (Fromm's Puppy Gold) and the occasional piece of cat food she steals if she gets to it before we pick it up. I took a sample to the vet awhile ago and they tested it and didn't find anything. The vet put her on some meds in case something was irritating her bowel but it only helped for awhile. Piper has had this problem off and on since I got her (she's 5.5 months now and I got her at 15 weeks). I'm going to take a sample to the vet next time she does this but I'm hoping someone on here might have some suggestions? When I last spoke to our vet (brought in 2 of the cats) she said that maybe Piper's diet is too rich and we have to put her on something really bland. Any suggestions will be appreciated, thanks!

| If she is eating catfood regularly that could be causing it. It is too rich for dogs. It very well could be diet since this has been ongoing and shes been tested for parasites

| Food could cause it for sure, but to be on the safe side i would ask the vet for a prescription of ALBON , and give it to her together with "panacur-c" or Safeguard for at least 5 consecutive days, 9 consecutive days the better. . This is a very good deworming program that gets rid of gyardia ( wich causes your simptoms and will not show on every fecal, sometimes never shows) Also gets rid of any coccidia , same thing , may or may not show on fecal exams . Albon is antibiotic and works on stopping these nasty critters and calming down the intestines... the other is a very broad dewormer that used combined with Albon pretty much gets rid of anything parasite ... If after that she still have "episodes" i would go ahead and exchange her food and concentrate on something else !!!!

| Thank you! Thank you both very much! I'm going to talk to my vet about the Albon and panacur-c. If that doesn't work then I'll try switching the food. I chose her food because they don't test on animals and I would hate to have to switch to one that does test animals. Thanks again!

| I have to agree that the food she is currently eating just may be too rich for her to handle. I know this can be true, b/c I was feeding Innova to mine when they were her age and we had poop issues as well, so I immediately stopped the Innova b/c it too was too rich for them |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hmmm...sounds to me like something is continuously irritating her system - not terribly, but enough to cause her to heal a bit, and then be irritated enough for some mucous/blood. What are you feeding?
