| I am really worried about Sadie, she keeps throwing up bile I moved this post bc I orig posted under Health/Diet... I felt it really belonged here under the sick portion- not the emergerency though.... -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok I am really starting to worry. Since Friday and we began the supplements andddddddd...I gave her a tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny bit of the raw food (NV) starting Friday evening. The problem here is raw and supplements all started on Friday. So TOO much all at once to narrow this down to why this is happening. The "small amounts" of bile Sadie has been throwing up began Saturday evening. I Stopped the RAw sunday morning so if I had to give you an estimate on how much she has consumed i would say maybe 1/2 teas TOTAL over 3 days- I did not give her more than a aspirin size piece literally- I was that careful. I have noticed that she is drinking a lot of water. the reason I have noticed this is because I had been paying attn to the amount of water they have been drinking since the specialist asked me at our last visit if I had noticed them drinking a lot of water. Sometimes the bowl barely looked as if they drank any. very very little. Now- they both are drinking more water and when I check the bowl it's almost gone. This has never been this way... Husband thinks maybe the supplements are causing her to drink more water since she barely had any raw...only 3 times... and she is still doing the same thing. This has got to be from the supplements upsetting her tummy. But I don't know for sure??? And Sadie is gulping water too when she drinks it. Since I have been home tonight she has vomited bile again for the 3 rd time in 1 hour. and exactly 1 hr after eating. And then what she does- is she immediately wants to eat the vomit as fast as she can. The last time I couldn't get her away from it fast enough we were outside and she vomited on the grass. And she ate it again. I tried to get the water bottle that I keep out there to water it in the grass bc it was the only way I could get rid of it. Again just now again on the patio- my husband just hosed it off. The only thing that is keeping me sane is the fact that she is still playful. Crazy to be exact. Is her tummy bothering her and all the running around upsetting her tummy more??? Because she could also be just laying down and then she will get up to walk in the kitchen and then just yak. Sometimes I have noticed her coughing it up in her mouth but not getting any on the floor. i could just hear her swallowing it. I did not give them the kidney supplement this morning bc I was starting to think....ok no raw since Sunday morning....and she is still getting sick. So tonight I decided maybe i will just give them the supplement once a day. I did not give it this morning. I also have not given the liver supplement yet bc it just seemed like to much to give all at one time. I don't know why I felt that way??? I just did. I am still using the RX Enzyme.. am and pm... it seems to have helped a little. I HAVE noticed that Samie's stool is a lot smaller. Like half the size it has been. Sadie's stool is maybe a little more firm but still not as firm as I would like it to be. I have to get all of my records in order for Susan. there are so many tests and labs and urinalysis's done for both dogs since June. I literally have started my 2nd giant 3-ring binder. I sat outside tonight and I told my husband. I just can't worry anymore. I am making myself crazy. I literally am to the point where I just don't know what to do? I know I need to call Susan, I am going to get everything in order and send the form to work so I can fill it out in as much detail as possible and contact Susan Davis. Please understand that I want to do this. It's just picking a night where my husband and I can both be home from work at a reasonable hour at the SAME time. Because I want him here when I talk to her. Our work schedules keep conflicting and tonight he worked late. He has talked to the specialist more than I have and I mainly have just spoke to the specialists assistant through emails. So I want him here in case I don't know something Susan asks me and I also want him to just be here anyways. Not to mention 100 labs and tests and documentation I have to get together. So at this point, I don't know if I could give her a pepcid a/c and it would calm her stomach and stop the little bouts of when she puks up bile. (its very sticky btw, foamy and sticky) I am assuming this "is" bile only from what i have read on YT. She doesn't look like she doesn't feel At all to me. She is acting her normal self. But out of the blue she just gets up and puks. ?????????? She does not look like she needs to be seen at the emergency vet.... BUT I have got to call in the am and talk to the holistic vet and ask if this could be from the supplements. I am discontuing everything except the RX enzme. It HAS to be helping her. In the mean time, I am working on finding a time to do the consult. And trying not to have a nervous breakdown from all of this constant worrying. |

| Sadeisamie, I do believe that Sadie, for right now, is incapable of digesting the Raw diet. She seems to have the same puking symptoms as Mango did. Susan Davis gave me a diet that is tailor made for my little girl, but perhaps it could help yours for right now, until you speak to her.She also told me that Mango is unable to digest the fat content in the raw diet for right now, and I believe this to be true for Sadie as well. I do know that this diet was also recommended to me by Wylie's Mom who is so very knowledgeable about nutrition. I am going to send it to you via PM, but please check with Susan when you speak with her because she also added other supplements that will help with the inflammation that is causing the "yellow bile" she is throwing up. I am also posting a link to your original thread, because it contains so much useful info for others in the same situtation: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-raw-diet.html I really feel for you, as I have been going through the same thing with Mango and know how frightening it is to watch your baby like this. Hugs, Lauren

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | How is she today, are things better? You can also give Pepto. More importantly though, I really think you need to take her *off* the raw bc she just cannot process the fat at this time. I really encourage you to get her on fish, potatoes, and a bit of green beans (steamed/pureed) - and call Susan Davis. She *will* get you on track.

I literally only gave her a "pea" size piece of the raw all 3 times. She had it Friday evening, Sat am and Sat evening. That was all. But I think it was enough to throw things off. I talked to the Holistic vet today and they said that the supplements are probably making her drink more water. And I'm telling you. She drank a cup of water all in about 2 hours. GONE.... they both have been drinking a ton of water since we started the supplements. And gulping it down very fast so they said that that also could cause the vomiting too. And it is usually right after she drinks the water too. So for now, we are stopping everything (the supplements) Haven't had any raw since Sat night... we will see what happens. Sadie.... both of these dogs are crazy! When I came home from work tonight they were yelling at me :-) Sadie has not got sick yet but I am closely monitoring her and keeping track of anything unusual. I have already started getting together all of the labs and my husband and I talked. If within the next week we can't make this happen together with Susan than I am going to talk to her on my own. And just take a lot of notes. And then we will go from there. After I gave her the pepcid last night no more vomiting. It's just a one time thing with her though. The only way I can describe it this. It's a quick barf... then she tries to eat it. Nothing where she is straining at all. and not a large amount. maybe drinking the water and gulping it down just is making her do this. She was drinking water like she never drank before. Every 15 min or so she would go in and gulp water. It has to be from the supplements because I've been watching the line on the water bowl and it has seldomly moved. Now last night and the day before that was a different story. the bowl was dry---completely. It has never been like that. | |

| thank you for sending the diet. I am not going to try it just yet but just in case I have to do it I at least know what to give her. I will post on how she is doing these next few days. |

| I really don't know what is going one but if your dog has pancreatitis, the raw is probably way too high in fat (don't know the percent off hand). If they are six pounds and eating kibble, I would guess they should be drinking about 3/4 cup of water a day. If they are drinking too much more, something is wrong. I read the list of supplements that you posted and it is a lot. This is one of the reasons why I don't really like holistic vets. How were the girls doing AFTER the specialist took them off of their meds and BEFORE the holistic vet told you to use these things? Some supplements are great but others can be useless or just plain too much.
