It is just SO awful. I am always bringing home animals and trying to care for them as best I can...however, most of them are just dogs who have ran away and I have luckily always found their owners. So far, this is the first animal that I have come across that I KNOW is sick and REALLY needs help....or possibly even needs to be put down I definitely have the heart and I WANT to help this precious baby...I'll devote every single minute I have to it if thats what it takes...I just want it to get help

| That would probably be the most humane thing to do, and Brooke I feel so bad for you, what a heart wrenching situation to be in. I know I would be physically sick as well. Sure hope you will be able to figure something out. Janelles |

| I dont think the vet would put the cat down unless it was beyond hope. DO they really still GAS ANIMALS? I thought that was just a term. I thought they gave a shot to put animals down. How do they gas them? LIKE A GAS CHAMBER???? NO WAY!!!

| How heartbreaking. But hopefully, if nothing else at all, you can give this baby a peaceful dignified ending to his life. It's not all that uncommon for cats to wander off away from their homes and families when they are sick and near death. I had my most loving cat do that, and I was so disappointed that he chose to do that. Poor baby.

| I am one of those people that believe that things happen for a reason. You are such a kind and compassionate person and, obviously,an animal lover. You are a special person and you were meant to find this precious cat. Even putting it in your garage will bring some comfort to it and its current situation. Even if it is older and wanting to pass, it will not do it alone now. Tammy |

Diane - I had never even thought of that possibility. But from the sounds of this cat, it doesn't seem like it just wandered away to die...it sounds to me like he's been neglected.

| My Little Man! Donating Member | Omg this is so sad People use gas chambers for animals? This is so cruel! Bless your heart for caring and worrying about that kitty. I would defenately bring it to your moms and keep it warm. Call the vet they might be able to help you. I know my vet helps cats all the time. I saw a big sign at his office saying about cat adoption.

| I haven't always been a responsible pet owner. We have a cat and no way will she ever go outside..I don't believe that Cats in town should be outside...way too much can happen to them...they get ran over..people do bad things to cats..and you can't keep them in the yard like a dogbaby...I know this is breaking your heart..I'll pray for you and the little cat...I wish people would be responsible. I pray for all animals to be safe warm and loved everyday...

| I know what I would do. I would take it home because I would never be able to get the sad image out of my mind. I'd take him/her to the vet to get evaluated. If it is ready to die, I would show it some love before it does, so it's not alone. Hugs to you Brooke for being kind-hearted.

| I'm not sure what your financial situation is, but is it possible for you to take the cat and have it treated at the vet then call a reputable cat rescue or animal rescue that will foster it and find it a good home? We went through a similiar situation with a baby kitten. I guess God knew where to send him because by his good graces he ended up in my back yard. He could not have been more then a couple of weeks old, eyes barely open, standing there screaming at the top of his lungs. We looked for his mom and sibblings but my guess is the people renovating the house next to us, got rid of the mom and kittens (That by the way we had no idea were there). Anyway, I called our animal control and was told that they would not kill him but would not bottle feed him, so what they were telling me is he would die. I could see worms coming out of his back end and had no idea how to worm so I asked would they atleast worm him and they said no. So much for HUMANE SOCIETY. I ended up taking him to our vet, having him treated and then spending weekly for his kitten formula. He would lay on his back, grab the bottle with his feet and his little ears would move when he ate. He was adorable just like a real baby would feed. My end to this story is YES cost me probably $400 for this stray kitten that we had for a few months while he weaned and then we found a real nice family that lost their old indoor cat. It was truly worth it atleast for us to know that we were able to help out a stray that would otherwise have died. Again, I do not know your financial situation. If this is not possible for you, then could you possibly take him into your garage, feed him and find a rescue that would take him? Best of luck to you. Elaine |

| My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Brooke did you go check on him yet????? If it were me? I'd go get him....bring him home and try to save him. Try giving him water with a syringe or dropper. Even put some nutrical on his tounge. maybe give him a little nurishment and see if it changes him at all? I'm all emotional now reading this...it just breaks my heart!!!! I just went through having my 17 yr old cat die in my arms as I was holding him so this is just so hard to read. I hope your there right now gettign him! Saying prayers for this little guy!!!!! |
