| ![]() my daughter just lost her dog (not a YT) a couple of weeks ago to parvo, she was so upset. She rescued this dog from some people who were not taking care of it properly, unfortunatly it was to late for the pup.

| ![]() Hi You asked if you needed to scrub the walls? I didn't, but I did every floor in the house, even our hardwood floors with bleach. We also sprinkled it over the carpets.I just didn't care if anything happened to our floors or rugs, just wanted Tootsie better. Anywhere Franklin has been, his bedding, soak his toys in bleach, or toss them away. I know how devastating this can be. It is so terribly hard when you are upset enough as it is, to have to go around cleaning especially with bleach. (Be sure to wear rubber gloves) I could hardly see to clean, because my eyes were filled with tears, so I know how you are feeling. Hang in there. How is Franklin today? Everyday is a bonus, and closer to getting him healthy again. I was assured that once they get it, the possibility of them getting again is very rare. If I can help in any way, pm me. Remember, Tootsie survived and I'm sure Franklin will, too. Best of Luck Janice |

| ![]() I just wanted to add that my daughters sara is a parvo surviver..we believe the breeder who had told me all shots were done, could have given her parvo shots, and they may have been outdated.. apparently this happens a lot with breeders who give parvo shots themselves.. Hope all is going better for franklin at this time.. pooh's mum |

In the states they start as early as 6 weeks giving shots for parvo.. I am talking vets not breeders.. canada is 8 weeks, 12 weeks, 16 weeks and my vet in canada will not give the rabies at that 16 week.. he gets me to wait.. does not give two needles at the same time... These little guys need to be so protected.. away from the elements., strangers should not see them.. hold them or be close to them.. at those ages they are so vulnerable. People just do not understand about parvo and many have never heard about this. In fact many sell their puppies far to early with not one shot given.. people laugh at me saying I am over protective.. pooh's mum | |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | ![]() oh poor baby, I hope he gets better soon. Praying for him... For sure Parvo can be dangerous, but I know many dogs that had recovered from it, including a chi that I had when I was young. |

| ![]() I hope Franklin gets home and gets better. Its sounds like he is doing better right now. I hear that some kennel in our town has it. I don't know the people but have been told I don't needed the dogs out to bring it back to them. Isn't that the scary part, you don't know where it is or if you have brought it back to you little ones and how terrible. I thought I was safe if I wasn't out around with the dogs out where it was. Or me not being at that kennel. But I'm finding out all I have to be is in a store and pick it up on my clothing and bring it home. How do we protect our little ones.

| ![]() Myself, I'd pitch it all, but my vet scared me on that stuff years ago! I just think that keeping food bowls, ect is just not worth the expense of treating for parvo- i'd pitch everything i could- that is just IMO! Even if that dog cannot get it again- some dog could! i'd burn it! |

| ![]() My recommendation on vaccinations is if you are a breeder and give shots yourself then order them from a reputable place. I get mine from Revival Animal Health Products. I give only distemper and parvo starting at 10 weeks. I do not recommend buying vaccinations from feed stores. I can understand vaccinating the larger breeds of dogs at 8 weeks because they are normally weaned earlier and they are bigger. Yorkies are so tiny and vaccinations can be so hard on them. You just cannot see the dangers you may be causing by over vaccinating until it is too late. Too many breeders rush the puppies out the door too early and think they are doing good by vaccinating them first. I hope Franklin makes a full recovery. He will need to be kept away from all other dogs for one month. Also, I don't know if he was let outside to poo or not but parvo can live in the yard for up to 6 months. I don't know if there is anything you can do about that. |
