Thanks for the info. I have read to stay away from beef, lamb, venison, turkey, duck and rabbit. I'll just add another one to the list. I guess Ellie gets soy and eggs. I just made her 10 days of beef meals too because I thought she was fine.

| sad to hear about Ellie. not too long ago i was on here talking about my liver compromised dog, and you said to join the liver shunt/ MVD group on yahoo. i did, and they have been alot of help. i still don't have a dianosis on my girl yet, looking towards a shunt. but i had a U/S done last week it cost $295. it's usually around $300. unfortunately we were unable to see my girls shunt, so this monday we're getting a scintography done.... good luck to you and Ellie, i know exactly what your going through. also, i would stay away from all meat, give her only dairy protein. (egg, non fat yogurt, cootage cheese.) again, the yahoo group can help you ALOT more on this.. good luck!

I know we will have to go back to different protein now. I thought we were out of the woods so I swtiched to a normal dog's diet. I so hope we don't have to do a scintography.

| Has Ellie had a Protein C test yet? Has your vet spoken to Dr. Center? I belong to a Maltese forum and many of our members have contacted Dr. Center directly and said she has been very helpful. I am so sorry you are going through this. |

She hasn't spoken to Dr. Center. I didn't ask her to because we are going to a specialist anyway. She did send Ellie's biopsy to Colorado State and Dr. Powers did the pathology. She found no MVD and Ellie's vet asked her to look again. I am hoping since it isn't elevated preprandial that it isn't LS but it could be cirrhosis. Maybe these off the wall numbers are normal for her (dreaming).

| Uh oh, no they didn't. Is it necessary or just optimal? Ellie's vet decided to do one when she was in the middle of the spay, so I'm not even sure she's done many before. All along she has been saying maybe the sample was too small (but believes it was quite a good piece) and the pathologist said that sometimes the changes with MVD can be so small that the liver looks normal, so she couldn't completely rule it out. I guess if the u/s shows nothing and we decide not to go with scintography we will do the protocol for MVD because she did well on it before. Am I missing something?

| It's possible that the sample was too small or she didn't take enough samples. Most vets opt to take a couple of samples from different areas. That's why doing a needle biopsy/ultrasound biopsy is not recommended. (I know your vet didn't do one of those). Also, I would think that the biopsy would have showed cirrhosis or fibrosis if she had it, but again maybe that small sample wasn't enough?

I am a bit nervous right now because Ellie ate 1/2 hour ago and is shaking under a blanket (so she isn't cold) a tiny bit. It was beef too (I know I have to change now). I thought I noticed her shaking a few times after eating but nothing major so I have just written it off.
