I am sorry to hear about your baby boy. I am glad he is feeling better and getting the best care he can.

I hope the pain goes away soon for him. I know it is just heartbreaking seeing them in pain.

Default Please Help This Is The Latest

After going to doc on saturday I came straight in and went to bed... I am still bumfuzzled to say the least.. Bleu does ok during the day but when he is coming off pain meds which is every 6 hours he is in some definite pain...

at this point I am extremely frustrated...

Let me tell you what I think has happened...

The first vet I took him too ran no tests though I begged him too he only gave an injection then he took his neck and completely lined it straight up with his back IS THIS NORMAL?????????????????????????????

Took him to second vet he had blood in his stool and a urine infection ... OK THAT TELLS ME SOMETHING WAS WRONG RIGHT THERE! (MAY NEVER HAVE BEEN HIS NECK I THINK FIRST VET MESSED HIS NECK UP)

Do you think the fist vet is the reason BLEUS neck is out of whack cause this is the latest

Bleu (PER NEW VET) DOES NOT HAVE AAI OR AAS HE WAS TREATING HIM FOR THAT BUT DID NOT OFFICIALLY DIAGNOSE HIM

So we are back to square one he took more x rays SAT $200.00 worth no blood in stool..

Says neck is as if you were a football player and you jammed your neck and went to chiropractor and had an adjustment this is all that is wrong with BLEU

says his recovery period is 6 weeks .. wants me to update him every 2 days and look for anything out of the norm will see him in 2 weeks but that he is totally pleased with bleus improvement...he says on the newest films he sees like a shadow that could be a hairline fracture or it could be a shadow but that bleu is young enough his bones will repair themselves ....

please helpppppppppppppppppppppp

Do you know how the first vet came to that conclusion that he needed to 'line his neck up with his back?" Did he take an x-ray there?

When you went to the second vet, did you bring the records just to make sure tha the second vet knew what direction the first vet was taking?

It can be confusing to both the docs and to you sometimes...

If AAI/AAS was suspected, it's such a rare thing, I would go to a Veteranary Neurologist and have it ruled out completely before disregarding it. That is a doctor of Veteranary Medicine that specializes in the nervous system ONLY. He is not usually a 'regular' vet. Often, they are associated with large veteranary colleges.

I have never heard (but that doesn't mean it can't happen) of a vet doing a chiropractic adjustment on a dog with AAI/AAS. It's not a matter of pushing the vertebrae back into a slot...it's usually a congenital defect in the spine..a weakness that can only be corrected by surgery.

On another thread you mentioned a slight yellowish discharge from your boy's privates..yes, it's not abormal to see a small amt. of non-clear discharge.
And yes, if he's excited to see you, you may see the red tip as well.

Hope you are successful in getting all checked out,
Joy

Thank you for updating on Bleu. I have been so worried. Please follow the advice of others who have dealt with AAI/AAS and get to a Veteranary Neurologist. If you have x-rays, blood work from the other vets take it with you or have it faxed to the neurologist. He needs to see a specialist so you know what you are dealing with.

As trying as this is, you will have more peace once you hear from a specialist. Then you will know how to proceed and know that Bleu is getting proper care.

Hugs & prayers to you. I am so sorry you are going thru this.

Hi, Vicki! Thanks so much for the update on Bleu. You have to be extremely frustrated, I'm sure that at this point your questioning both vets "does he have it or not?" I know you'll be more at peace once you get a definitive answer. Please know that I'm thinking of you and Bleu and praying that everything will work itself out.

Vicki,
It me again... How is Bleu doing?? I know how much of a pain this all can be.. But Bleu really needs to see a neurologist.. He will tell you for sure if Bleu has AAI/AAS.. If a vet has never seen this before the are going to think that in xrays it looks very strang.. AAI can be aquired but it is mostly a congenital deformity.. They say big dogs that get hit by cars some will get AAI/AAS...
Oh and the reason you are seeing Bleu feeling better with the pain meds is because they are masking him pain.. Babybear's surgeon told me all pain meds do is make things worst sometimes.. The pup feels so well the do all kinds of thing and injures themselves worst.. And to not do surgery is like putting a bandage on a broken bone.. Please keep these things in mind.. Your best bet is to see a neurologist and put your mind at ease.. I am so worried about you Bleu..
And you also said that Bleu was a very young pup.. They might not want to do surgery on him til he is a bit older.. until his bones have stopped growing around 10 months.. So you might have to keep him calm til then.. This is something to ask your neurologist about..
Remember we are all here for you.. So please keep us posted..Give little Bleu a gentle belly rub for us.

Untill then holding on to my pillow on my hubbys chest and crying myself to sleep because I am doing all I know to do and if God still takes him..
