| I am so glad your baby is doing better. These little furbabies are so precious they worry you to death. I constantly worry about Otis I hate it when he runs through the house real fast I am so afraid he is going to run into something and hurt himself. I am always watching and moving things out of his way.....Take care and keep us posted on what happens Saturday with your baby.....

| I know he is probably in some pain, but also the reason he could be walking away from you when you go to pick him up is that he knows that in the last couple of days someone has had contact with him he has been given medicine or taking the test at the vet, he just may also be scared that you are going to do more stuff to him that he doesn't like. When I first got my baby Otis from the breeders he had a cold and I took him to the vet 3 or 4 times to get him better and he had to be put on some meds and everytime I would go to pick him up he would walk backwards away from me and take off in the other direction because he knew I was going to give him medication or take him to the vet. He was just afraid I was going to do something to him that he didn't like because we also had to take his temp. which he hated.. So, your baby just may be a little afraid that something is going to be done to him and he probably does hurt a little bit too. Hopefully, in a couple more days he will start feeling better about things and not turn away from you.... Otis still does it sometimes if he thinks I have something in my hands. I try to get down on the floor to his level and then try to pick him up it makes him a little more comfortable because I don't like a huge giant to him on the floor. Maybe you could try this and see if he is any better....

| Please, please consult a vet further before relying too much on pain meds. If indeed it's AAI/AAS, pain meds only mask what's really going on. Metacam is just going to relieve the pain briefly. The injury is not muscular, so it's not going to help at all long term. Get to a neurologist for a consult. My Angelina who had AAI/AAS suffered paralysis and seizures. We did have stabilizing surgery at Maine Neurological. Her care became so involved that I had to choice but to adopt her to a veteranary technician who worked there. Please, please consult a specialist. Angie was a fraction of an inch from a death fracture to her spinal cord itself. Joy

| Oh, Vicki, my heart is breaking for you and Bleu. I'm so sorry you and your little guy are going through this. I don't have any experience with this, but there are many wonderful people on here that do. They will help you all that they can. In the meantime, know that your are in my thoughts and prayers. Hopefully, as the vet said, he won't have anymore problems with this. Hugs to you! Sounds like you have a wonderfully supportive hubby to help you. |

| Vikki, Please try to stay calm and relax, ok. He will be ok. I don't have experience with an AAI baby, but there are others that do. This is very serious, but now that you are aware and your Vet is on board, you will make everything right. I am not sure why your Vet isn't suggesting surgey though - b/c from what I read, surgery is need to stablize the neck Hang tight, I am going to try and contact Val: MyBabe4me - as she has soooooooooooooooooooooo much knowledge about this. As for now, PLEASE KEEP HIM QUITE / CALM - NO RUNNING - NO JUMPING - Just relax him and keep him still. He is very fragile, as Val and others stated, YOU MUST TREAT HIM LIKE PRECIOUS CHINA Please don't cry, we will help you. I will be back soon. |

| It sounds like you have a wonderful vet who is really on top of the problem. It is so hard when our babies are in pain but it sounds like Bleu is in good hands and is doing great. Welcome to YT.

| Vicki, I just sent a PM (private message) to Val asking her to come on here and talk with you. She isn't logged onto YT though. So I just read her post on page 2. Here is her e-mail: Babybearswheels@aol.com PLEASE e-mail her. She has soooooooooo much knowledge and expereince in this matter. Her boy, Baby Bear, was undected, he broke his neck, he died and her hubby was able to give him mouth to mouth and it brought him back to life. They rushed him to the ER and eventually found out he is an AAI baby, they did surgery to stabilize his neck, but unfortuantly it has left him paralyzed. This was about 1 year ago. She has been through so much with him, but he is finally showing improvements, after tons and tons of theraphy, etc. Anyway, PLEASE e-mail her to talk with her further: Babybearswheels@aol.com |
