| Aww poor Charlie!! My poor Coco had this like 2-3 mnths ago. Hers was big as well, and right on her bootie. So they drained it and did surgery, and she was back to herself that night The surgery was quick, and she was done. So try not to worry too much. Coco is only 5 lbs but did great. I have learned my lesson and when I see her scoot I immediately express her anal glands. Keep us posted on Charlie. Where is his abscess?

| Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully it shrinks and he won't have to have surgery.

| poor little guy. My vet was telling me about the surgery and from what i've heard they have really perfected it.. in the past some dogs would come home with no control in their bum but it sounds like that doesn't happen anymore. Just to ease your mind in CASE they have to, but i sure hope they don't.. i will be thinking of Charlie |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | aw i'm sorry he has an abcessed anal gland. As for the surgery, is he just talking about draining it or is he talking about an anal sacculectomy (removing the gland)? i've seen this surgery done many times and they do really well afterwards.

| He said first they will put him under and try to drain it, but if its to bad, then he will remove them both, he said they dont really need them, praying it wont come to that, he is 3 and i have never had any problems with him. Do you think he should be eating any thing speacial?
