| We are at wits end with our Yorkie Kassie? Hi Everyone, I just found this forum out of desperation in trying to diagnose what is wrong with out yorkie. Hopefully I am posting in the right place if not please accept my appologies. My 8 year old yorkie Kassie has been sick off and on since June and still has not been correctly diagnosed. We have made 4 trips to the vet in the last two weeks alone. We know for sure she has food allegies and she was on antibiotics to clear up her itchy paws and has cream to clean her ears up. On top of that she was vomiting for a solid week and lost almost a whole lb. She has gone one whole week without being sick. The problem is she is still being bothered by something and it is heartbreaking to watch . It is hard to describe but she acts like she just cant get comfortable. She will take off running through the house and it is like her feet are all going sideways. She drives her face into the bed, bathroom mat or whatever is closest. It comes and goes and she just acts all crazy like something is terrorizing her. Sometimes she will fetch up in the middle of one and just cry or whimper. She hides out in our closet pretty much all the time and doesnt even greet us at the door when we come home from work. Her appetite hasnt changed nor has her water intake. I probably havent done a great job explaining but if anyone has any suggestions we are desperate. Thanks in advance Sherri |

| I'd get a second opinion. Sounds like it could be seizures.

| Welcome to YT and I'm so sorry you little Kassie is having problems. My guess, and I'm certainly no expert, is that she is in pain. The times when she's running, she may be trying to run away from the pain. The sitting in the closet makes me also think she is in pain. My daughter's yorkie is having a terrible problem with his back right now and our vet told us that one of the signs that he is hurting is that he goes off by himself and that is what Kirby did at first. Now we keep him in a cat crate to hopefully heal. Crying and whimpering also makes me think she is in pain. Poor baby. Does she go up stairs without a problem? If not, it could be something with the neck or back. Sorry I'm not much help, and I will say a prayer for your precious one and hope you soon find answers.

| We have had her to five vets since June and three of those vets got repeat visits too. I have another appointment for her tomorrow but hold little faith we are going to get any answers. It has been a frustrating four months. Our other yorkie Kenji lived to be 18 and never had any health issues. It is the worst feeling in the world to watch her and not be able to help. Thanks |

| Thanks ladies. I agree she is in pain and that is the part that is doing my husband and I in. She cant help herself and we are sure trying but without much luck. It is like we have lost our little girl to the closet. She was the type to be constantly bugging for something and always in your face. I never thought the day would come that I would miss how much the little muffin bugged. Now I would give anything to have my little pest back. She has had stomach xrays and blood work and it all came back good. They did say she had an enlarged liver but then said it must be okay cuz of the blood results. Thx again |

| Welcome to YT...you and Kassie!!! I hope you are able to find out what is bothering her...and that whatever it is, is treatable. Has she been tested for liver shunt? Bile acid test? Her behavior sounds like what some others have described, in Yorkies with liver issues...I could be wrong, but thought I'd mention it. Best of luck to you, hope you get your little pest back, 100% healthy again.

| Welcome to YT first off. I am so sorry to hear about Kassie. I will keep you in my prayers and hope they find something out soon. Keep us posted on her will you please. Do you have a Vet School close by? Sometimes those are better to work with. Good luck

| So Sorry About Your Baby I know how badly your heart is aching. It's horrible to watch them suffer with no answers, but don't give up. Sounds like liver shunt or IBD. I would insist on a referral to a gastro/digestive specialist. She may need an ultrasound or endoscopy. How are the poops? What is she eating for the allergy diet? Do you keep her off starches and grains? Does she arch her back a lot? The vet school is a wonderful suggestion. Give us more details on the tests performed and her history. There are plenty of "experts" here who have the experience to guide you. Praying for her and you. Keep us updated.
