| Forgot to add. My daugher is a cosmetologist and she chews me out every time she catches me using Pantene even on my own hair so I have not tried in on our yorkies. |

| I have tried a few that work and do use human baby shampoo for their faces but use dog shampoo for the bodies and usually use dog conditioner but I also have used Panteen, 3 minute Miracle, K-Pak, and Infusim also and they all have worked great. |

| Me too!! I love how soft and silky it is. I always use puppy shampoo but i find that panteen conditioner makes it irresistable to touch. Dove conditioner also makes their hair really soft and silky. Last edited by Bradley Wieseha; 07-12-2007 at 06:31 PM. Reason: bad spelling |

| I was at the beach a couple weeks ago while Sofia still had very long hair. She had so much sand throughout her fur that I had to buy some Johnson's baby shampoo to use on her from a gas station since no other stores were around. It was great! She didnt even need conditioner. It made her so smooth and silky, and boy it shined so beautifully. -A. |

| I always bathe them with dog shampoo, but found that dog conditioners do not work very well. After trying Pantene conditioner, I saw a big improvement in their coat. I think it works great.

| My daughter is also a cosmetologist who graduated from The Aveda Institute in Minneapolis. She tells me not to use Pantene either although her boyfriend uses it. She has long dark sand thick hairhich is dyed. She was using Mane and Tail on herself for quite awhile. I am not sure what conditioner she is using now.

| I Love My Lil' Punkin's Donating Member | Nope - not human products. I've tried ONE that I heard raves about, and I personally didn't like it AT-ALL. We'll be sticking with the doggie shampoos and conditioners

| I finally found Cowboy Magic in my town...from a store that sells products for horses, rabbits and farm animals. Cowboy Magic has 3 products...a detangler, a shampoo and a demineralizer (I guess horses get minerals in their hair?) I've been using the detangler for a couple days on Bentley's mats. It's a big job because he only tolerates grooming for a short time....though he seems to be getting better about it. He is very soft coated and cottony. It seems to help. But Cowbot Magic feels just like the product called PINK..a human hair glosser I purchased at Walmart a while ago. The Cowboy Magic comes in a tube and is a bit thicker. It's about the consistency of KY jelly. Hmmmmm. there's an idea. Anyone try KY Jelly? The PINK is a spray on liquid...has some oils and other products too numerous to type here. I think it works just as well as the Cowboy Magic....perhaos better. Bentley's coat doesn't seems greasy when I use it. Maybe that's a sign that his hair is dry. Frankly I don't bath him very often....only if he really seems a mess. Let's face it...how often would a dog in the wild bathe?

| A lady who was showing a little Ch. Yorkies this past week-end said NEVER use baby shampoo or leave in conditioners. I made a post of what shampoo and conditioner and spray before brushing that she uses, but right after I posted, it got put away for some reason. If anyone wants to know her secret, then just pm me. |

| Dogs in the wild have a great deal of outside to move around in and change sleeping quarters frequently, whereas a domestic dog doesn't, so the domestic dog does need a bath more frequently. |

| I use Buddy Wash & Rinse because it smells SO good and makes them so soft. Loki is short so soft is OK. Sammy has a cottony coat that is a little longer so she needs a little bit of help. I let the Rinse sit and comb it through, then rinse it out. I use my Matrix finishing products on her. I've found that her hair is very much like mine (thick & frizzy) and my products work well on her. I figure the human finishing products don't really touch her skin, so they are probably OK. I use the Buddy Splash for her topknot though.

| I use tear-free puppy shampoo on Wickett and a dog conditioner as well, since I read that human shampoo could affect their skin. My experience with Pantene on my own hair was TRAUMATIC. I've always had very thick hair, and have used all kinds of hair products and never had a problem. Well, all of a sudden I started losing handfulls of hair. My bathtub would be covered in hair after I washed it, and so would my brush. I was getting really scared. When I asked my hairdresser, the first thing she asked me was if I used Pantene. Apparently several of her customers had the same problem. I immediately switched and the problem went away. From what she explained, it does make your hair really soft but the chemicals in it are really bad for your hair |
